I was looking trought my daughters earings last night, and some of them were really gross and crusty :sick: and I'm wondering what to use to clean them. I remember when I was younger, wanting to clean mine, and leaving them in witch hazel over night, and then rinsing them off, and wearing them. Then I remember getting really sick....

Any suggestions appreciated!

I use good old hot, soapy water. I let them sit for about 20 minutes in the hot soapy water, use a strainer to drain the water off and then rinse with cool water. I spread them out onto a paper towel and dry them as I put them away.

I soak my jewelry in warm water and automatic dish detergent and it works like a charm. Let them soak an hour or so then use an old toothbrush to scrub out what gets loosened.:thumbsup2

To disinfect I soak in rubbing alcohol.

I use jewelry cleaner on mine. DD's ears were pierced a few months ago, she cleans hers with peroxide in a small bowl. She likes the fizzes apparently.

I use witch hazel to clean my ears and earrings. Witch hazel made you sick? :scared1:

I think she meant it didn't clean her earrings well and she got infected. witch hazel is pretty benign. My husband used to use it combined with his aftershave so his face wouldn't be red after a close shave. Now he just doesn't shave, lol!

That makes sense ::yes::

I clean mine with peroxide or alcohol, but if I'm traveling and they need cleaning, I use soapy water.
