Ear Tubes - does anyone regret getting them for DC?

My daughter got her 1st ones (she is on her second set) on her 6th birthday. I do not regret them one bit. When she got home from the hospital the first time she went into the bathroom and flushed the toilet she screamed and cried. She said that the toilet flushed too loud. she was so used to not hearing that it hurt her ears. I cried because i did not realize how bad her hearing was. They really help alot and my ENT said some people need them all of their lives so we will see if we will have to put them back in after this set.

My middle child had countless ear infections and high fevers with them. Long story short, she had her adnoids and tonsils removed, tubes put in and she has never been happier. Her ear and hearing problems have cleared up and so has her sleep apnea. On a side note, I had a tube put in my ear because I have a dysfunctional eustachian tube. I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. The fluid just drains out. My tube just recently fell out after about two years and now I hear the fluid slushing around again - yuk! I wouldn't hesitate to get another one and probably will soon. It's a little bit scary but having ear problems and taking so many antibiotics can't be a happy ending either. :earsgirl:

Well we went to the ENT yesterday (got an earlier appt. due to another infection) anyway she is scheduled on January 18th for PE tubes.

She is OK with it , I think I am more frightened about it than she is. Dh is taking off so he can go back with her. I won't be able to handle it. I can handle blood, and guts and gross but not on my own child!!>>LOL

We will keep our fingers crossed that it will work.

Hi
I had tubes in my ears when I was five. I am now 31! I don't have many problems with my ears. I don't remember the tubes bothering me at all. The only thing I had to do was put silly putty in my ears before I went swimming. My mom found out it worked better and was more comfortable for me. I still have my tubes taped into my baby book. :rotfl2:
Good luck
