Ear Piercing?

Is there anywhere on property where my DD (who's turning 10) can get her ears pierced?

This might get moved to the other forum since it's not about Disneyland planning, but I'll comment by saying I don't think it matters what kind of earrings you want to buy her if you can afford it, they just won't be the first pair she wears. She will have to wear the earrings that she gets pierced with (out of the gun) for 6 weeks before she can take them out and start wearing other pairs. They will also have to be post earrings for at least the first six months after she gets them pierced - no dangling earrings.

Plus, you might want to make sure your daughter is old enough to properly care for a pair of Tiffany&Co. earrings! If you lose a $5 pair, no big deal, but if you lose a $200 pair...

I would suggest doing it at home either before or after since sometimes it can get infected and you don't want it to happen at DLR (just in case she needs to go to the doctor). She could pick out some cute earrings there for when she can take the studs out. My favorite earrings I wear everyday came from DLR. I think of them as small "hidden mickeys" in my ears.

I'm sorry, I thought my question was about Disneyland planning as she is turning 10 right before we go and we thought it would be fun to have it done at DTD or something like that as a special treat. I was not the one who asked about Tiffany earrings. I have 2 DDs and they "misplace" the little bit of jewelery that they have received all the time, so imo, for my girls at least, that would be a no-no.

I appreciate the responses regarding the aftercare as it's been a long time since my ears were pierced and I forgot alot of that stuff!!

No worries about your post! When I said it might get moved I was referring to the Tiffany follow-up lol. Yes, Studio 365 is in DTD. I don't think they do it but I've also never been there.

She can pick out a cute pair of mickey head shaped ones with a post to wear later to remember the trip. I have several pairs of Mickey ones that I just love wearing myself!! They give you that little bit of Disney magic just when you need it!!

I agree about getting them done before or after and buying her special disney earrings that she picks out. I remember my ears being tender after getting them pierced.

When are you going because if there is enough time you can get them now and then she can put her new disney earrings in there. I remember them telling me to keep the studs in for a couple weeks (I don't remeber how many) before I put in other earrings.

I agree with other posters. I would get them done 3 months before your trip so they are 100% healed up and she can wear all the pretty Disney earrings she picks out.

If you want to PM me I can tell you my personal horror stories with ear piercing. I certainly wouldn't want to deal with it at DL!!

But that isn't what you asked - will you have a car? I'm sure folks on this board can hunt down the closest place.

Before you get her ears pierced, get Emla cream from your doctor! I use it for my kids' before they get shots (numbs skin to 1 inch), and lent it to a friend to use on her DD's ears before piercing: no pain!

Folks considering piercing, you might want to check out having it done at a reputable piercing parlor. These are regulated by the Health Department.

I offer this up because of a couple of terrible infection incidents I learned of before we had our DD's done. Let's just say that places that use piercing guns CANNOT get them all the way clean and you are sharing in a little bit of everyone who was pierced before you.

I agree with the suggestions to not do this on vacation no matter where you get them done. She can still pick out a cute selection of earrings to wear once the piercings have healed.

You bet! Remember to put it on 45 min - 1 hr before you pierce; it takes a while to sink in for full effect.
