DD15 has an upper respiratory infection, and is coughing and blowing her brains out since Thurs night. Fri morning she got up with 'piercing pain' in her left ear. I took her to the Dr. and he said she had an ear infection, cause 'it is bulging in there'. So she comes home and gets in bed and tells me she feels like shotguns are going off in her ears, echoing, and everything is really loud. I left to go get her prescription filled and stop at the store for some OJ. About an hour later, she gets out of bed, and she has some kind of liquid dripping out of her ear down her neck. YUCK.... I called the Dr back, and he said that her eardrum has exploded from the pressure and she now has a perforated eardrum. He said it will heal itself in a little while, no hearing loss. Now, I have 3 kids, and all of them had ear infections at one time or another, and this has never happened before. THe Dr said it was pretty common for older kids and that it is good that it is draining.
Has anyone had older kids that had ear infections that this has happened to??
