Edit Profile to change your email address.
What I think that you were seeing is in your Profile there are options about having your email address available for people to use and also an option to have an email sent to you every time someone posts a reply to a thread in which you've participated. That can get to be a lot of emails!!
If you want people to be able to email you from the DIS boards, go to
Edit Options and for <b>Hide Email Address?</b> select "No". Look at one of your posts and at the bottom you will see a row of "buttons". You should now see an "email" button next to the "pm" button.
Unless you really want to get a lot of emails, I would suggest leaving <b>Use 'Email Notification' by default?</b> as a "No".
