E-cigs?

Also be prepared to witness many folks falling into a fit of coughing as soon as they see what even looks like a cigarette. :rotfl:

It will, however, put into perspective the number of people that knee jerk react to anything that they do not approve. It could be entertaining.:)

How is a child seeing a person smoking an e-cigarette more of a bad example than a child seeing a person smoking an actual cigarette? And they do allow people to smoke actual cigarettes in the parks. Walk past any designated smoking area and the kids will see it.

Anyone want to argue about -- er, discuss -- "second-hand vapor"?

My DH quit smoking in January and has been doing the e cigs, so happy he has made the change!

We went in March and most of the time he stood on the fringes of the smoking areas, but he would occasionally take a drag here and there as we walked around Epcot. He was very discreet when he did it and never had any problems.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss.

On the topic of the e-cigg and people thinking that gives them the ok, I hate to say it, but these things WILL make it harder to police who is actually smoking and who isn't. There will be a group of people who will think this will make it easier to sneak in a smoke.
If you want to use it, why not just go to the smoking area?

There is no "who is and who isn't" when it comes to e-ciggs. They are very obviously NOT cigarettes. They are longer and do not have smoke or heat. They release water vapor ONLY and are perfectly safe around everyone. My agency just went completely smoke free (absolutely no smoking on the grounds at all) and e-ciggs are allowed. Going to a smoking area will put those trying to quit around the smoke which will cause them to want to smoke. An E-cigg releases nicotine only to the user with no harmful effects, scent, smoke, ect to those around them.

:rotfl2: I always burst out laughing when I encounter idiots like that. They make such fools of themselves!

I never realized there was a color -

I have a mild allergy to cigarette smoke - and I no longer assume when I see someone puffing that it is a regular cigarette - but its taken me a back more than once!! :rotfl2:

I'm so sorry for your loss, I cant imagine what you must be going through.

I understand the comfort cigarettes can give, my mom is very attatched to her cigarettes, she's quit smoking many many many times - they looked into the e-cigs, but felt they were still very expensive, (in that they are smaller and she may use them up to fast?) :confused3 or maybe that's what she says so she doesnt give up her cigarettes!!

actually they are MUCH less expensive. One e-cigg cylinder is the equivelant to a case of cigarettes and costs around $8

I haven't read all of the responses yet but just wanted to say I used my e cig in the parks last October with no comments at all. I did not go to the smoking areas to do so. I did not use it in lines or around crowds of people, mostly just when I was walking through the parks going from one attraction to another. Mine is black metal and has a blue tip so it is obviously NOT a real cig! And the vapor is very minimal and disappears quickly! I say vape away!

I'm asthmatic and have cigarette smoke issues and I have zero problems with e-cigs. I've stood next to people puffing away on them for quite a while and been fine. Some of the ones I've seen are black and kind of futuristic looking with a blue glowing tip. If you had one of those, I doubt anyone would confuse it with a regular cigarette.

They're really not at all intrusive, so I personally wouldn't have a problem with you walking around with one, any more than I'd have a problem with someone walking around with one of those misting fans.

I have relatives who use these and they only kind of resemble a cigarette and they don't smell anything like one! I would have no problem with them in the parks. I know what they look like, so I doubt I would confuse them with the real thing. At night most people will probably think the are another glowing toy! They are black with a neon blue glowing tip.

DH used on this past trip 3 weeks ago and didn't get questioned at all. And his looks exactly like a real one down to the red glowing tip. He was very good about being discrete in the parks and such but did not use the designated smoking ares as he was trying to avoid smoke. I am happy to report he didn't smoke a single real cigarette the whole trip. I am allergic to cigarette smoke and DD 5 has had astma issues in the past so DH has always been an outside smoker. But ofcourse I could still smell it on him, It was nice to not have to deal with that smell the whole trip.

That's probably one of the most uneducated remarks I've ever seen regarding electronic cigarettes. E-cigarette users report time and time again the increased health benefits they experience from stopping traditional cigarette use and using these as a replacement. Measurable increases by their Dr.'s in pulmonary function tests, increased stamina, eradication of nagging coughs, elimination of inhalers because they are no longer needed, being able to come off of hypertensive meds because they're no longer needed. And she's "hurting herself?":rotfl2: Newsflash. She is preserving her own health. Every one around her is a secondary beneficiary.

Well you go right on believing that e-cigs are healthy if it makes you happy. Far be it from me to even attempt to sway you in your religious fervor. :rotfl2:

Have a magical day.

I will!! And thank you SO much for your permission to do so.:rotfl:

Funny, how the different agencies see them.:rotfl: I work at a psychiatric hospital and we went completely smoke free several years ago. When the e-ciggs first became popular, we had several families start trying to bring them in for clients and also alot of staff that wanted to use them. Within less than a week administration sent out emails and paper flyers letting everyone know that they had been considered, but were not allowed. They said they would provide the patches or gum, for anyone (staff or patients) that wanted to quit, but the e-ciggs were not allowed anywhere on grounds under any circumstance.

I've heard (no first hand experience) that depending on the inhalation method there could be a scent in the vapour. If that's true then sorry, no, it's not just water vapour as water has no scent. That being said, I don't see how this is worse than walking through the cloud of somebody drenched in perfume and in fact I would think it would be easier for people with scent allergies to handle the vapour than the thick cloud of perfume some people wear.

Even if it is allowed, I would like to suggest that a plane isn't the best place for these. On a plane, you are enclosed in a tiny space. People with allergies can't just walk away on a plane like you could somewhere on the ground. Of course I'd also hope that people do consider things like perfume on planes as well for the same reason.
