Okay, I'm sick of vacuum cleaners that don't last. However, we are building a new home - no carpet, only wood and tile. I still like to use a vacuum cleaner though instead of sweeping, and I really really use the tools ALOT cleaning ceiling fans, baseboards, etc. What's the difference between the DC 07 and the DC 14. Looks like the attachment wand might be easier to manipulate with the 14, but is it worth the extra money for it?

I love my Dyson and would never get rid of it but I hate the design of the attachments.
They are uncomfortable to use imo.

the Dc7 is the older model. the Dc 14 is newer and a little easier to use.

I have the DC-17 (got an insane deal but that's another story) and I love the hose, although I rarely use the attachment. I did want to say, however, that a good friend of mine bought a Dyson on my recommendation, and while they love it on their carpets, they are not happy with it on throw rugs and bare floors (they live in an OLD house).

Hmmm - well, now I'm stumped again. We will have two big rugs - one under the dining room table, and one in the family room. The throw rugs I'm fine with shaking them outside. I was hoping to vacuum the larger ones though.

We have hardwood downstairs and carpeting upstairs. I use my Swiffer on the wood floors. I have a Kenmore Precision vaccuum with a HEPA filter/bag that is great on the area rugs, baseboards, stairs and of course the carpeting upstairs.

Oh great - you're going to make me spend more money at Sears! ;)

We bought all of our appliances from them, and it has been a royal nightmare!!! We definitely saved a ton of money, but I don't know it has been worth the hassle!

I'd suggest going with a canister instead of an up-right.

When I do our tile rooms I utilize a extension kit I got with my RICCAR upright. Large array of tools to use. But I still need the upright because about 75% of my house is carpet.

Good luck!
