So on the deluxe plan you get 3 meals per person per night, regardless of where you choose to eat...right? But if a restaurant requires 2 TS credits normally on the deluxe plan does it use 2 credits as well?

Also, DS will be under 3 when we go but is a big eater so I dont necessarily want to pay out of pocket for his meals but also dont think it makes sense to pay for him as a 3 yr old if I can help it. If we get the deluxe plan, can I choose to use one of my meals per day to order a meal and share it with him? (in other words I use 2 meal credits in a day and use one for him) I dont want to break the rules but since sharing of my meals is OK with children under 3 I dont see what the difference would be.

Thanks!

A 2 TS credit restaurant is a 2 TS credit restaurant, no matter what plan you are on, regular or deluxe.

As for sharing with you son, they will only let you order as many meals as you have people on the plan - so if you have 2 adults on the plan, you can only use 2 credits (or 2 two credits for a signature) at that meal. You could share with your son though, but if you order him a separate meal, you will have to pay OOP for it. You can't order 2 meals for yourself though, and then share or give one of those meals to him. You aren't allow to purchase meals using your credits for people who aren't on the dining plan.

Hope that made sense - it started to sound confusing the more I wrote, so I'd better stop now!

If you are on the DxDP and you go to a 1 credit TS, each person will have one TS meal deducted for that meal. IF you go to a 2 credit TS, each person will have one TS meal deducted for that meal.

Kids under 3 can share anything off of an adults meal. It is not frowned upon at all. We did this with my son and daughter last year when we went and we had no problem doing this. At buffets, they got their own plate. At family style restaurants like Ohana's (breakfast) and Garden Grill (dinner) they even brought out a kids meal for them at no extra cost. We insisted in telling them that they were under three, but they brought the food and dessert (Garden Grill) for them. We only paid out of pocket for one of his meals the whole time, just because he wanted something different then us at a CS.

You can not use an adult credit for your child at a TS. I hope this helps answer your question. We have to pay this year for my soon to be 4 year old. Last year when we went he was still 2. I would feel like it was a waste of food, but our 18 month old can share the 3 year old's food so it all works out in the end.

If my card has 2 adults on it I could order 2 meals at once though, right? DH will be with us and on the DP too, so hypothetically I could go through a CS line and get 2 adult meals and give one to my son and then DH could go through and get one more for himself...right? As long as we dont use more than 3 per person per day. Yes, it would short us one meal for later in the day but that would be OK, since the deluxe plan includes more meals and snacks I doubt it would matter to us. (I dont eat much breakfast so I am thinking I could use that credit for a CS for DS for lunch) I know TS would be different and we would have to share from our plates if we wanted to share with him.

We are just trying to decide if we would use all the meals on the deluxe plan or if we should just do regular dining and pay out of pocket for DS's meals. It may be cheaper to just pay for him. My disney math isnt that great :rotfl:

Is that right? That's the opposite of what I said. If you go to Narcoossee's on the DxDDP, doesn't it still cost you two of your total credits on the DxDDP? I thought the point of the DxDDP is just that you got ALL TS credits (vs CS), not that it would somehow cost you less to eat at a signature.

I still thought you used 2 TS credits at a 2 TS restaurant no matter what plan you are on (but I have never done the DxDDP).

Sorry. I made a mistake when I was typing this. Yes, at a 2 TS restaurant, 2 credits are deducted. At a 1 credit TS, 1 credit is deducted. (This is what happens when you type with an 18 month old in your lap....I get easily distracted dealing with other issues:rolleyes1). Didn't mean to make a mistake. ...sorry for the confusion.

2 TS credit restaurants are still 2 credits on DxDP.

You are completely welcome to share meals with your 2-year-old, but you are, as noted, limited to ordering a certain number at a time (2 in your case).

Best "value" approach for under-3s is going to buffet and family style meals. They eat for free, and can have whatever they want.

Don't forget that you're also getting 4 snack credits per night (2/pp) they're great for filling in a little extra food, especially at those CS meals, since many CS places also have snack-eligible items.

you also get an appetizer and dessert with your dxddp meals so that would be more than enough to share with a 2 year old!!!

I'm not sure what CS meals you are planning but I share the 1/2 chicken meal with my niece (almost 5 and almost 6 yrs old). We both had enough to eat. As a pp mentioned you can add to the CS meals and use a snack credit for extra items (fries, fruit, etc).

Non-buffets/family style restaurants might be a bit harder to share. With the appetizers it might be easier. I have only been on the DDP-no appetizers.
