I can't decide whether we should just keep the DDp or upgrade to the DxDDp? If anyone has an advice on it please help me!:worship:

Adults only or kids too?
Do you usually eat breakfast?
Do you plan to eat at signature restaurants?

There are two adults and we do want to do some of the signature resturants and we will being eating some breakfast not every day though

You will get opinions on both sides.
My DH and I did the DxD plan in October and it worked well for us. The credits you don't spend on breakfasts can be used for the 2 credit signature dining locations. Yes it is a lot of food, but didn't feel like we had to be in the clean plate club to still enjoy it.

Some people have trouble using up all their snack credits. You can use some of them for muffins or light breakfast items for those times when you don't eat a full breakfast. And do not under estimate the power of Goofy's Candy Company!

If $$$ was not an option, I would do it again.

Do you want appetizers?
Do you want the refillable mug?

I'd look at where you want to eat - choose your most expensive ones and plan them on the DDP - then look at your lesser expensive places and try to guesitmate your costs at those places - if your costs would be more than $30 a day, the DDXP would benefit you. if your costs are less, than stick with the DDP and pay for your extras.

Dh and I have done Deluxe type of plans twice and regular type of plan once. All other trips we have paid OOP. For us, the deluxe is just too much food. We generally split an appetizer, have our own entree and do not eat dessert. We do a signature every night but we do not eat breakfast and prefer a CS lunch (don't like being comitted to a TS during the day). So for us, neither plan really works. I do not want to change our style to accommodate a plan. However, if our style was different, I would do one of the plans as they are a great deal if used properly.

That is a tough call.

We just returned from 5 nights on the basic dining plan. It was our first time on it, and I was surprised at how much we liked it! It was nice to have the "snacks" for every time my son wanted some lemonade, a pretzel, etc... I was hesitant to try it, but it was the free dining promotion (Disney Visa). I really did like it!

We got room service first night, as we were so tired. The service was excellent (the food was just average, but we were tired and hungry).

I think having the extra credits for room service would be nice, as it is so convenient when you feel lazy. I would actually consider the deluxe for that reason (and we ran out of snacks a day early!).

If it were just myself and DH, we would do the deluxe. We did it last year but with dd, 6, it was just too much traveling to all the restaurants. It seemed like we were always on a boat, monorail or bus. We did several signatures. With dd, we would do the regular plan again. I would love to do some more of the signatures and the deluxe is a great way to do those.

We upgraded to the DxDP when we went in August during free dining. It was our 1st trip to WDW after numerous trips to DL. We debated whether or not to upgrade since most people said not too waste our time doing sit down meals especially since it was our 1st trip. We did upgrade and have not regretted that decision. We're a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 junior and 1 kid). We loved having the refillable mug and being able to order appetizers and just pay oop for tips. We were also able to do a few 2 credit meals like CRT, HDDR and Narcoossee. We took a red eye from, the west coast so we arrived early the day we checked in (7am) and left in the afternoon the day we checked out so we were able to spread out all our meals so we wouldn't have to pay oop for anything. We did have a few snacks left over at the end that we used to get snacks to bring home to friends and family. We were totally spoiled by the time we got back home (reality). The kids got so used to eating disney style, that by the time we got home, they were so used to having appetizers and desserts after lunch and dinner. I had to quickly nip that in the bud.

We used our sit down meals as quiet time and time to regroup during the hectic and hot park days. If money wasn't an issue I'd go DxDP. Since you want to do a few 2 table credit meals, I'd price out what you'd be paying oop with the DDP and see if it's worth the difference in price to just to the DxDP.

thank you everyone for your help i think we are going to do the ddxdp it seems so much more worth it because we want to eat more sit down to regroup during the day!

It's the difference between the base plan (if you'd pay for it) and the deluxe plan. The difference for 2009 is $32.

I never realized you had the option to upgrade. Where have I been?! So if they offer the free dining again for 2009 we could upgrade to the DDP for $32 per person, per night?? Is that right?

To me, signature restaurants are a much better value on the deluxe plan, for the 2 TS credits it would cost you on either dining plan. The reason for this is that on the deluxe plan an appetizer is included in the 2 TS whereas the app is never included on the basic DDP unless you are at an all-you-can-eat venue where there is either a buffet or some type of salad and/or app served for family-style restaurants.

We still will be sticking with the basic DDP on our July 2010 trip (provided they still have it...hey you never know, Disney changes all the time!). Looking at our dining habits, on a 10-night trip we would do at most 4 character breakfasts, prefer to have a quick CS lunch in the parks so we can enjoy more attractions, and the only 2 credit place we would consider is Hoop Dee Doo, and all the food is included at that dinner show.

We went on a 5-night trip back in July and did the basic, DDP, and paid OOP for 2 character breakfasts. We spent a lot less on food doing it this way than we would have if we had the deluxe plan. Also, for 4 of us on a 5-night trip (only 3 on the DDP as my little guy was only 14 months old), we got 15 snacks total and we had 2 snack credits leftover at the end of the trip. I got some grapes and a Mickey rice krispie treat for the road. I can't even imagine what we would do with 80 snacks on a 10-night trip next time we go (my little one will have just turned 3 and will be on the dining plan). I can't even imagine how we will spend 40 snack credits in 10 days!!!! It sure will be fun though, especially since we will be right by the Boardwalk Bakery and also spending a day in DTD (Goofy's Candy!!!).

I will be traveling with my 14 year old daughter. I am debating on upgrading to the deluxe plan. My concern is that my daughter is mostly a pasta and chicken gal ( not big on steak or seafood )- with that said, is it really financially worth it for us to upgrade? I figured that it would give us the opportunity to eat at places we otherwise wouldn't. I have t 2 seven day trips booked back to back ( to maximize the 3 free days on each ressie )- with that said, I was thinking of upgrading the first week. I have a frig (thanks to the frig swap) so, we will be able to store what ever leftovers and snacks aren't being used the first week. We're staying at the POP ( my daughter really wanted to go back there ). Any insight would be helpful.

thx
