DWTS, who is voting for Bristol?

I can't believe anyone would think that being a teen mom is "inspiring".

I sure wouldn't want my dds to be "inspired" by Bristol. I don't want them to think it's a great thing for a teen age girl to get pregnant and not be married. Do you think it's inspiring for all the teen age girls who end up pregnant or just Bristol?

I don't dislike or hate her but I really can't see where either she or Kate Gosslin are "stars".

She speaks to teens about abstinence and is telling her story so that they may not go through what she does. You may want to open your mind a bit...........what she has to say will probably help countless others. Wow, just wow.:sad2:

I think talking to teens about not getting pregnant is a very good thing and I give her all the credit for doing this.

My point was though that lots of teenage girls get pregnant and I don't think it's ever "inspiring". I think it's sad whether it's Bristol Palin, Jamie Lee Spears or the girl down the street.

If it was "inspiring" why would every parent hope it doesn't happen to their own daughter.

Do you really think she would do this though, if her mom wasn't who she is? It's all part of making her family look good. I highly doubt Bristol decided this on her own.

Well Bristol got her wish with a reality show. When she and Levi "got back together" it was because they were going to do a reality show about their relationship. When that fell through, they started shopping themselves around for other reality shows. She got DWTS, he got the show about running for mayor of Wacissa. She is really very shrewd. Funny, people think of her as an innocent.

I don't understand voting on a show about dancing for someone that has "been through so much". She seems like a perfectly nice girl, but that doesn't make her a better dancer. I think you could pick just about any of the contestants and talk about hard times they have been through -- many as a result of their own choices and decisions.

That said, I don't really have a favorite this year, but I think Bristol is pretty wooden.

It's interesting to read the passion in so many answers to this question. popcorn:: I have been rooting for Bristol since she is the underdog, but I think it is time to go home to her child since she so clearly misses him. :flower3: She's got nothing to be ashamed of with her performance on DWTS. :lovestruc

I like Jennifer Gray b/c she is older and it is so much more difficult for her with all her medical issues. She's a fighter and IMHO is inspiring a lot of folks to keep trying.:thumbsup2

Ever since the second season and Jerry Rice made it so far I have understood it is not about the dancing, but popularity. :rotfl: That's just the way it is and is not worth getting our panties in a bunch when it doesn't go the way we think it should. :rolleyes1 (although I was sooooo happy when "The Hoff" left after the 1st week!party:)

Every "star" on that show is using DWTS for something - to reignite a career, to make some money, to prove to themselves they can do it, purely for fun, or whatever. Aside from some of the older athletes, I think many of them hope it will lead to a little more fame and bigger opportunities. I doubt Kim Kardashian and Kelly Osbourne were on the show for purely altruistic reasons. But I give them props - the show is a huge hit, so who wouldn't grab that chance? :confused3

So maybe Bristol is shrewd, maybe she's not-so-innocent, or maybe she just took a great opportunity and is doing her best. Good for her.

Comparing Bristol's progress to the other remaining contestants, unless she has a fantastic performance next week, she may be history.

I don't disagree with her decision to go on the show, I'm just surprised at how well she has portrayed herself as naive and innocent. She is savvy and shrewd like many other people, but people fall for her sweet and innocent trick.

Wow, I can't believe that you think she is "tricking" the viewing audience by portraying herself as sweet and innocent. She was a pregnant teenager when she was thrust onto the national spotlight 2 years ago. She can't control what her mother has done or the fact that the father of her child is an idiot but she seems to be making some good choices now, plus there's something to be said about the fact that she kept the baby and is raising the child herself. Besides, it is refreshing to see someone who has no dance or entertainment experience doing as well as she is.

ITA!

I think some do not like her simply because of who her mother is. We cannot choose our parents. They are who they are. I also think some are jealous. JMO

Pretty sure that's not an option in the Palin household.

The why is very simple.

You stated it in your last comment.

It's a dance contest for celebs. It's not vote for who had the best costume, who has the best pro, who is the hottest, throw a bone to the most god awful dancer just to keep them around - it should be and only be about which celeb did the best dance.

There is a vast majority of the viewers, some non viewers who just do what ever the figure head of a web board tells them to do, that don't base their voting on the celebs dancing AT ALL.

Like a previous post noted, there are boards out there ralling their members to vote for Bristol, because of who her mother is. Others are voting to keep her around because they think it's funny to keep a bad dancer around. Others really like her pro, Mark and don't want him to leave.

For those of us who truely like/love dancing and want to see celebs who grow over the season, stay and keep growing, it does get very fustrating when dancers stay who have reached their potential and are not going to improve their level of dance. And it's about all parts of the dance. The steps, the emotion, the performance. Bristol has stayed beyond her abilities.

It was very clear in the group dance. Any of us who have been around dance for a number of years, we are pretty good at knowing the difficutly level of dance steps/combinations. The area she messed up on, was very basic. She should have been able to rock it with the pro girls and she didn't. She either didn't know the steps or her nerves got to her and she messed up. Either way, making the mistakes she did effects the dance. As a dancer you fight thru your nerves and rock the performance or you don't and you should have been going home.

Frankly if they wanted to truly keep it a contest, then they wouldn't put a number of celebrities on each season who actually have dance experience...celebrities such as Nicole Scherzinger and Jennifer Grey (who was actually in a little movie called Dirty DANCING). They are obviously people with dance experience, so having them in the mix is a bit like stacking the deck, no?

Bottom line is, it's a relaity show. It's supposed to be fun and it is. It's not the Olympics.

HEY!!!!!! Don't hassle "The Hoff"......;)

Tricking meaning she was doing everything she could to get a reality show for herself. Tricking the media (People magazine) into doing the cover story on how she and Levi were getting back together and were going to make it work. She was "making it work" because she was doing a reality show with Levi about their relationship. Two weeks later, no more reunion. When that fell through, she signed on to DWTS, he signed on for his own reality show. She really is very clever using her fame for her financial success, so more power to her. But so say that she is not shrewd is false,

She could have given the baby up for adoption.

Wouldn't have played as well in an election year.

I'm sure Bristol wanted to keep the baby regardless of how her mother used the moment for her own personal gains. Bristol had nothing to do with how she was portrayed to the media, but she sure is in charge of this phase of her life and is working hard to get something out of her situation. DWTS has certainly helped her. If it wasn't DWTS it would have been some other show.
