DWTS, who is voting for Bristol?

She speaks to teens about abstinence and is telling her story so that they may not go through what she does. You may want to open your mind a bit...........what she has to say will probably help countless others. Wow, just wow.:sad2:
My problem with her abstinence "teen activism" is that her message is different than her life: Do as I say and not as I do. I find it completely disingenuous that she goes on and on about how much Tripp means to her on DWTS (and elsewhere) and then is paid to tell other teens to keep their pants on so they don't have a (wonderful, fulfilling, beautiful) baby like her. I would bet serious money that Bristol would NOT make a different choice to have unprotected sex if she had some kind of cosmic do-over if it meant that she would not have her son. To make things clear, I wouldn't expect her to either. It's clear to me that she completely adores him and luckily her family has the financial ability to make it work.

Would you rather her encourage young teens to become unwed single mothers like her?

No, of course not. But I don't think she should be paid to do it either.

So she should tell the organizations paying her "no thanks, I'll do it for free" out of some sense of obligation? Is that what you would do if you were trying to provide for your baby?

You're all over the place on this thread. Sometimes I think you like the sound of your own typing.

Just responding to posts that don't make a lot of sense. First you say that Bristol shouldn't be preaching what she didn't practice. Then you say it's okay as long as she doesn't take money. It's a head scratcher :confused3

I don't think she's teaching what she doesn't do, as much as she's trying to teach others from the mistakes she has made in her life. I commend person who will make a huge mistake and turn it around into a positive life lesson for themself or others.

As far as who is voting for Bristol, she obviously has fans, whether they're fans of her or her mom. Anyone remember Cloris Leachman? Marie Osmond? Marie's final 3 dance was embarrassingly bad - she dressed as a rag doll!

I've long said the show should be named "Dancing with Celebrities" much more fitting for the people they cast!

Still trying to figure our what makes Bristol a "star" or a "celebrity". It can't be being an unwed mother because they are a dime a dozen. It can't be that she fell in love with a loser - teenager girls do that by the thousands. Maybe it's having a Mom who wants "abstinence only" taught in the classroom and then her teenage daughter gets pregnant.

Other than that what's her claim to fame.

I really get tired of hearing how Bristol has to do these things to support her child. Mama Grizzly's raking in the big bucks and I'm sure she is more than happy to help Bristol and her son. Maybe it would be better for Bristol and her baby for her to stay out of the spotlight, go to college and be prepared for a future without all the publicity.

Then she's doing it for the money, not to be "inspirational".

When Bristol was after the reality show and anounced her engagement she said that Levi proposed by covering the bed with rose petals. Does this sounds like someone who's practicing abstinence?

I also wonder who's taking care of the baby when Mom and Grandma are far away from him?

Bristol was not the original Palin DWTS target, at first it was her mother, then they wanted Todd and both of them declined so they went after Bristol. I also think she has her son there in LA for good portion of the week plus she and Mark went to Alaska a couple of times.

This thread is very similar to the Jon and Kate ones where there are those disers that feel that nothing Kate does is right and clearly this poor teenager can't win the respect of all the disers either.

Bristol's attitude >>>>>>>> Kate

After each dance DWTS tells the audience to call if you would like to see that particular couple back again next week. They don't ask you to vote for the 'best' couple, which is a matter of opinion anyway, but the one you would like to see dance again.

On the one hand, I think people are more likely to appreciate hearing this stuff from someone who has been there, done that. That's kind of why it wouldn't make sense for someone who has never taken a sip of beer to lead an AA meeting.

On the other hand... I completely agree with you. And that's kind of what I've been trying to say all along. It's very frustrating to me that so many outreach programs focus on pregnancy as being as the worst consequence of having sex. Of the women I know who were teen moms, not a single one of them would undo it if given the opportunity. Much like many divorced parents wouldn't NOT get married if they could do it over again because they would be giving up the children they had during that marriage.

I will never understand why people get so caught up in this. Of course they're all stars. The concept that they're not is perplexing.

UGH, another week and she's STILL here! She was horrible this week again, as usual.

I;ll give her this....she's the only "celebrity" in the history of the show who appears to have GAINED weight during the competition

I haven't voted for any of them but maybe the people voting for her are doing so because she's the only one with NO DANCE EXPERIENCE in her background. That is what the show is all about, right?

Such rudeness on this thread....:sad2:

Sorry to burst your bubble, but she is not the only one without dance experience in her background. Kyle Massey had no previous dance experience and can wipe the floor with Ms. Palin.

I guess everyone enjoys staring at a train wreck. She should have been gone after the first week. Margaret Cho actually put effort into her her performance and moved around the stage vs. bouncing in one spot. I understand why people were upset with Cho for "taking it too lightly" but she's a comedienne - that's her personality.

Have to disagree here. While I do believe they are celebrities, not one of them should be considered a bonafide star! It's a group of raggamuffin reality TV personalities, a couple of actors with TV shows, toss in an athlete, a guy who hasn't had a hit single in 15 years (most recently famous for dating and breaking up with Kim Cattrell) and a person who's famous because of her mother.

A true Hollywood "star" is someone with true acting chops - people with Academy Awards or a string of hit films. Someone instantly recognizable to the public - not a group of people that I'm sure several TV watchers had to google to see what they were famous for - heck, I did, and this season wasn't the first time that'd happened.
