My sister-in-law just suggested that we all go together in December (1st or 2nd week). My question is, can you use the swimming pools in December in Florida? My origional plan was to go in May but she is wanting to whole family to go in December. To me both Months have their ups and downs but the big issue for me is the pools.

From what I have heard (have not yet been in December) it is hit or miss... the weather really varies. My mom is really hoping she can this December!!!!

All resorts have at least 1 heated pool. One of the 2 water parks is usually closed for rehab but usually Typhoon Lagoon is the 1 that is open.If you go in December all the Christmas decorations will be up.Depending on which week it will be either a very light crowd or one of the biggest(Christmas)

We were the second week of Dec last year. On the day that we arrived, we went swimming. After that it was jeans and a sweatshirt and it rained for most of the time. That being said, we had an awesome experience. Seeing the decorations was amazing. It seems like nothing can spoil a trip to the world. The highlight of our trip was seeing the Candlelight Processional. It was incredible. I cannot tell everyone enough how great that show is. Even though we were soaked for much of our 8 days, we had a blast. I've also been in the spring, early summer, summer, and fall. I would not go back in the spring, or summer because of the heat. Late Oct is the best time to go IMHO but my second choice would be early Dec without a doubt. I hope this helps.

Thank you all so much. I will find out tomorrow whether or not I will be actually going in December. My sister-in-law works with me and if we can get the same time off together then we will be going in December (me, my hubby, my son, mom, brother, and sister in law) and if we can't then we (me, hubby, my son and mom) will be going in May (May being my preference anyway) but I would go in December to be with the family. I wouldnt mind seeing the decorations either but I'd rather go when we can for sure go to the water parks. I feel like everything is sooooo up in the air right now and believe it or not all this just began this morning b4 that it was May for sure. Geez!

My daugher and I were talking about how fun it would be to be at the world for New Years. So, I just got airfare and a rental, am now working on hotel. (we were just there in August-wish I had gotten AP's). I haven't told the kid yet. :D

I have been to WDW in both May and early to mid December, and December is by far my preference. The weather is so much more bearable. Usually the weather is quite nice--warm and pleasant, but not hot. Of course, I have been there on days when it was quite chilly as well. It's hard to predict December weather. On one trip, one of the days was actually about 20 degrees colder than the forecast I had printed off before I left. Of course, that's not typical, but it does happen. Disney does heat it's resort pools, so you will be fine in the water. Plus, the festive holiday decorations and atmosphere really add to the WDW experience for me. Also, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is so much fun! Of course, May is a good time to go too--hey, it's WDW afterall!

I bet the lights are beautiful. I was supposed to find out the other day exactly when we were going December or May and I still havent heard anything from my sister in law. I'd love to see the lights though.
