Does anyone have one of these? If so, what is your experience? We are thinking of buying one, but would like to know more about them. Thanks in advance!
I'm interested in hearing about anyone's experiences with the Sony HandyCam CD video camera.
Sorry if that hi-jacks your thread. I can start another one if you're talking about VCR things (sorry, technically illiterate, don't know the correct term).
My MIL has one (I had to hook it up for her). It's pretty cool, I have to admit -- to be able to record everything on DVD's just like a VCR. And you could, if you wanted to, transfer your VHS tapes over to DVD as well. I would recommend buying a couple DVD-RW's and a stack of DVD-R's. The DVD-RW's, I would only use for day-to-day (e.g. TV shows) recording and the DVD-R's for transfers of VHS and for movies and shows you know you'll want to keep.
We've got one and i can't figure out how to use it...I bought the right DVD, expensive I might add. I made sure it was hooked up correctly. There isnt any reason why it shouldnt record. But, it doesnt.
Originally posted by TimeforMe Yes, I'm talking about the video cameras that record onto mini dvd's and then you can play them right on your dvd player. Sorry about the
I just bought one a few months ago. One for work and one for home. I bought mine to tranfer my vacation videos from VHS tape to DVD. My DVR can record on two kinds of DVDs. One kind is called DVD - R and you can record on it in sections. Each time you are recording and you press stop it creates a chapter. You can erase the chapter but not rerecord over that space again so you loosde space on the disc. Once yyou have what you want you can filalize the disc and it is suppose to play on many different kinds of DVD players though not low end or older ones. The second kind of Disc is a DVD Ram, You can record onto this and edit small 3 second peices to large chunks out (it is great for those who like to edit) and you don't loose any or very little disc space. BUT these discs can not be finilized upon completion and will only play on DVD players that can play DVD ram discs.
I have found it great fun to edit but I am not pleased with the quility of the recording. I have experimented nsome and am still unhappy with the overall quality. I was hoping for a better picture to save my deteriorating tapes. I have yet to try recording something of the TV. That may come out better.
