Okay...I am the LEAST technology-wise person alive. Until I got my new car I still listened to CASSETTE TAPES! (Now my car doesn't have a tape player  ) We don't even own a digital camera yet :sad2: ...you get the picture. :rolleyes2

I was thinking about possibly renting a DVD camcorder (I don't even know the proper term for it!) to take with us to WDW...but I don't know if it will be worthwhile. For those of you who actually live in the year 2006, are these worthwhile to bring or just another piece of bulky, expensive equipment to carry around.

Thanks for any input!

I think it's fun to have a video camera to take SOME video, but it's my experience that it's much easier to use a still camera most of the time. I think a good camera is much more important than a video camera on a trip to WDW.

I see that your children are very young. On our first trip our sons were 3 y.o. and 18 months old. I brought the video camera and planned to take video and still pictures of their interactions with ALL the characters. Basically we realized that one parent needed to be free from a camera to keep up with our toddler. Our son loved the characters, but sometimes he would dart off. With the video camera up to my eye, it's was difficult to see where he was going and then to catch up to him (with the crowds around us).

We changed our plan and now we mostly take still pictures. We take video of some of the events (character breakfasts and around the resort). But it really is a pain to keep up with one more thing. Even though our camera is small and light, everything adds up and at the end of the day we don't want to carry around 1 more thing. :sunny:

I could not imagine going to Disney with out both cameras. WOW! My girls went to Disney years ago and we still break out the first video of Disney- which I may have only taped 30 minutes worth of footage compared to last year when we got 2 hours worth. You won't want to tape everythig, but I think in the years to come a few hours will be a great to have.
