We're flying soon. We're flying out of Manchester going down to Florida, and out of Daytona Beach coming back. We're considering bringing a portable DVD player with us. It's one of the ones that actually looks a little like a laptop. Anyone ever had a problem with these and security? Does it need to be taken out of the case to go through the x-ray?

You should not have a problem with this and the only item they request you take out of a case is a computer.

You should have no problem. I take mine all the time!

They might use special wipes to check for explosives. I had TSA hand-check my camera on a trip returning from New Orleans in October and experienced this special check for both my film and the camera itself. I have also seen security conduct a similar check on laptops at Toronto.

We've flown with a portable DVD player several times since Christmas (that's what I asked Santa for!), and we have never been asked to open it. I usually put it through the x-ray by itself in its little case.

in our carryon...always asked to see it, and swabbed it as well...it seemed like everyone else had a portable DVD player, and they were swabbed too...you won't have any problems...:sunny:
