dvcmembers.com WISH LIST: Turn off the music!

Just like you can chose to turn it on.. you can chose to turn it off... I don't see the big deal? :confused3
Pray tell, how does one choose to turn it on?? Perhaps if I could find that control, I could turn the silly thing off. (Yes, I know about the little mic icon on the upper right corner for muting once the app loads.) Thx!

If you're running windows, there should be a speaker volume control icon in your taskbar, somewhere near where it shows the time. You should also have a manual volume control on the speakers themselves. You can turn them off before you load the DVC Member homepage.

Another option is that I use headphones, and simply set them aside and only put them on if there is somethng I want to hear.

I use audio-enabled apps on my computers with great regularity. I host virtual conference sessions (with streaming audio) and I use my systems for editing the recorded sessions into web-playable formats. Audio is an expected part of my daily job for lots of tasks: online training/compliance courses, "alerts" for meetings, "alerts" for incoming chat sessions, etc. Headphones are not an option and wouldn't address the issue of "auto play" from the dvc site if they were.

I'll guess we'll just have to disagree. I'll continue to dislike the design for reasons both of audio and bandwidth. I'll chalk it up to my dislike of many Disney "IT" decisions and leave it at that.

My choice, it seems, is to quit using the website to check for my waitlist and to simply phone, phone, phone. (Just kidding -- my phone is too busy attending telcons.)

My thanks for the poster who mentioned blocking flash. Great idea ... I'll see if I can do that with my systems.

Oh, I have an answer! If blocking flash will prevent the resort ad with music ... I think I now have sufficient justification to buy an iPad! :lmao:

"Darling, I need to buy the new 3G-enabled iPad in order to check our Disney waitlists. You're ok with this, right?"

I don't mind the music, but I wish that it would store the info like my address so that every time I make a payment I wouldn't have to enter everything.

I also mute the sound when visiting DVCmember site. I like music but I do not like the particular music used on the membership page. I wish they would change it to something less irritating.
