DVCers - What is your Disney Dream Job?

When we were at the YC last year, we were browsing at the gift shop before checking out. I was talking to a CM and joking with her saying that how could you not be happy if you worked at Disney She told me a pretty interesting story about a friend of hers that had been a lawyer for a few years. His friend was killed pretty unexpectedly and it made him reevaluate life I guess you could say. He quit his job as an attorney and went and got his dream job as a CM at the Yacht Club! She said he still raves that being a CM is the best job in the world.

What a nice story, thanks.

Just like the work we do now.

She would love to be a Vet. Technician at DAK and I would love to be their (or any Disney) librarian.

Otherwise I'll take Guest Relations at any resort or drive the Monorail from MK to Epcot.

i,ve told my dear wife I would like to retire to disney and work doing grounds and the cool topiarys

I'm going to be the person at the back of the tram. What part of "no further boarding" don't you understand.

After that I'd be the person who drives the big garbage sucking vacuum cleaner after the parades.

But I'd be home!!

I was about to write the same thing...I told my parents when I was 4 that I wanted to live in FL and drive the monorail...I've said it every year since...and It remains the ultimate in "retirment jobs" in my mind. I'm 35 now...just gotta get my application in a year or 2 before sgtpet ;)

I'd like to be a character strolling around. Belle or perhaps I could pull off Jasmine.

I also wouldn't mind having a role in resorts development--doing research on the time periods, themes, locations, artwork, furniture, and everything else that goes into creating uniquely themed resorts.

DH wants a job over at DWWOS... and he can moonlight as an in-person color commentator on weekend / big sporting event nights over at ESPN! He will just need to control his overwhelming bias towards Philadelphia sports teams, however...<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/20_1_96.gif' alt='Flyers' border=0></a>

Me, I am a simple woman of simple needs. I'd like to serve ice cream at the sweets shop on the boardwalk, or maybe fix Kitchen Sinks at B&C! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_4_9v.gif' alt='Ice Cream' border=0></a> And when I'm not scooping, I'd like to be a CM for the MK family scavenger hunt tours. I work as a resrch. chemist now, so I don't want ANY behind-the-scenes stuff, though -- I want to preserve some of the mystery and magic, please! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/15/15_3_10.gif' alt='Wizards Hat' border=0></a>

Brandip22...You and I are in the same boat...I am a branch manager as well but after 25 years, there is no way I want back in a financial institution, even in Disney.:teeth: My dream job would be working as a CM at any of the resort front desks.:hyper: I would love to help people get their dream vacation off to a perfect beggining. Talking about Disney all day...absolutely...PRICELESS!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

In reality, we'd never want to work or even live near WDW-we like it being far enough away to be a vacation destination-HOWEVER
in the what if game:
DH would absolutely positively want to be a firefighter there(we had to take pics of the new firehouse near DTD last trip:rolleyes: LOL)
I would like to be behind the scenes working in some sort of financial position..or I would work at the bank in the MK-is that still there??

I'm not sure if my first choice is an actual Disney job but I would love to work on doing bookings for their special events like the Christmas Parade, Night of Joy (ie booking and coordinating the talent) and being involved in the logistics of these of events.

Since I'm not sure that is an internal Disney job here are my other pics:

1) DVC sales
2) Guest Services at one of the resorts
3) Wedding Coordinator

All of these 3 are tied together because I just want be a part making someones Disney experience even more magical and perfect.

Samantha Sterling, Daring Adventuress.

I'm practicing cracking coconuts with my thighs.

official dessert taster and reviewer, job hours 1100-1300, 2000-2200, press pot coffee included during second shift, weekends and holidays off for most of the year, 1 weekend a month tasting wedding cakes at gf wedding pavilion during official receptions

I would love to be the social director at a DVC resort. Playing games with both the children and adults. Anyhone for goofy bingo? OK how about pooside bingo??
Lauretta

Since I have spent the last 10 years working on fund raisers, I would love to work on philanthropic events at Disney. I would open the gates of the Magic Kingdom to battered and abused women, underpriviledged children, Make A Wish Foundation, the list goes on.
Although, I would hardly consider this work. The rewards far outweigh any financial gain.
Recently, I read a post from a very generous person, who wanted to donate her unused points at the end of the year...not for any tax credit, but out of the goodness of her heart. Although I didn't respond to her post, my compliments to her....character is priceless.

I've actually given this a lot of thought,

I'd like to work in Quality Assurance as a "secret guest." Walk arround acting like a regular tourist in the parks and resorts but actually keeping an eye on the cast members making sure they're doing a good job. I'd love to make sure the good ones get recognised and the bad ones get the boot (or retrained).

OR

As long as I'd have the power to do something about it, I'd like to be the one that deals with guests that are having a bad day. "I'm so sorry you had to wait so long for a bus. Would unlimited fast passes for the day help?" "It's too bad your stroller was stolen, would a free meal at Crystal Palace make up for it?" That kind of thing.

I'd love to be one of the people that makes changes to the MK at night .... leaving just as the visitors arrive to see all the magic that I've worked so carefully to create. Especially around the holidays! (Probably sounds like I'd be an ideal CM ... thinking of the visitor first and getting joy from their excitement!

My background is public relations and I would love to do this for Disney! I can't imagine having a hard time shining a good light on Disney since I love it so much!!

Pixie dust spreader on the Tilt-O-Whirl but I understand that job is taken, right Eddie? I guess I'll just have to settle for Mayor of Magic Kingdom! Great thread!!

What a fun thread! Here are my top few:

1. Work the cruise desk at Beach Club
2. Keys to the Kingdom tour leader
3. Host the Millionaire Show at MGM
4. DVC sales
5. Drive the boat between Epcot and MGM

Maybe I'll get to make my fantasy a reality someday. :D
