DVCer needs advice, can someone help?

Hello DISboarders,
After seven years of asking, Grandpa and Grandma suprised us with a call yesterday acquiescing to go with us to WDW. Get it put together and let's go! This really great news for two Granddaughters!

Well it seemed simple, but it isn't. After examing everybody's schedule, we targeted early December, my favorite time at the park. I called MS and secured a ressie for Nov 28-Dec 3. Then I called the airlines who are much less accomodating. I need to use frequent flyer miles and that restricts my options.

The net out is that the only possible time that everyone can go is Nov 26th -Dec 1st. I called MS and they can accomodate the move. Problem is I can't get access to points until Dec 1st which is my use year. I only have 108 points I can use in November. I need 184 so I am 76 points short. The sad thing is I can get all I need on December 1st, just 5 days later.

So here is my question: is it possible to "trade points" with another member? I need to borrow 76 points and can replenish December 1st. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how do you facilitate something like this?

I would appreciate feedback or experiences from some of you mega-veterans. Of course newbies are welcome too if they know what they are talking about! yuk yuk!

I don't know if this would work for you but could you:

rent the 76 points from someone (rental board) for use in Nov. then rent out 76 points to someone after Dec. 1 - you will most likely break even $$.

Why can't you borrow from your Dec UY? You don't say what UY points you are trying to use.

I'm not sure I'm following either. I assume your Use Year is December and that you have already used all your December 2003-November 2004 points. Did you also borrow your December 2004 points for a previous trip? I don't see how things will change to access your points for this trip just because it's December 1?

That is actually a workable solution that I haven't thought of. We took a 7 day cruise in May with two staerooms that ate up lots of points. I have 108 pts left in my 2004 use yaer. In December I can borrow from my 2005 use year. that is the problem.

The grandparents requesting the trip came out of nowhere and I'm now needing to stand good on my offer of lo these many years. I have rented out lots of points this year thinking I wouldn't need them, now this.

If others have ideas or knowledge of the borrowing aspect please let me know. Thanks Gritzel!

Long time no talk! You are on the right track, except I've used Dec 04 points, must wait until Dec to get points from 2005.

Since I rented out about 560 points this year, I probably just need to rent back the points and leave the 2005 points as they are. I hate using them so far out!

If you have already borrowed next year's points, then you will have to ask for a transfer of points from another DVC member.
