My husband and I were talking about buying into the DVC. We have two married children with a total of 3 grandchildren...(9 total) We go to Disney atleast once a year if not more often. What is the best way to go?

Read, read, and read some more!
Start at the top of the DVC section FAQs of the DIS.
Understand these terms:
direct purchase and resale - know the differences
banking
borrowing
UY
ROFR
Home resort booking advantage
Seven month booking window
Understand that you are making upto a 50 year commitment.

While nine will fit in some of the two bedroom villas and the THV, it would be crowded with nine in those villas, especially with six adults. So you would probably be looking at multiple villas. Maybe two studios for each of the kids and a one bedroom for you where everyone could meet.

I would shop around for sure. DVC is a timeshare and there is plenty of those around. Depending on the time of year you go you may or may not get your choice of rooms.

can you plan ahead? timeshares like DVC work best if you can plan a trip 10-11 months out.

do you have a strong preference for one specific resort? if you like the wilderness lodge villas and buy there, it would make it easier to book there...but keep in mind that VWL expires in 2042 (a positive for some, negative for others).

But the largest villa at VWL only sleeps eight (two bedroom villa, no Grand Villas). So if you want to all stay together, you wouldn't be able to do that at VWL.

My family of nine (including 3 grandchildren also) has done well with 2 BR villas at OKW and Animal Kingdom Kidani. Did Beach Club once with eight and a 4 year old and that was crowed.

Can be done, just need to be selective on the accommodations.
