DVC watches

Just curious...how did you get on "the list?" Did you have to be there in person? I don't remember seeing anything in the original announcement that we could get on a waiting list, though I could be wrong. I wonder if there will still be any in October.

We asked at the gift shop at OKW while we were there the last of June. The person behind the desk told us that they didn't have much information, but they expected the watches to become available in the fall. He also said that they had a "list" and that if we wanted to sign up, we could. We signed up for 1 mens and 1 ladies. Much to our surprise they called. They also said that they would pay shipping. There was no tax as long as we didn't live in FL.::yes::

The number one complaint I have with Disney and probably the only complaint I have with them on a regular basis, is there is no consistency in their policies.

When they released the info on the watches in the newsletter there should have been some policy setup for getting them. Either in person purchase only and adhere to it, or wait list, or mail order.

I really do not care which they decided, but it is truely not fair to sell to some over the phone and deny others the same privilege.::yes::

With them being limited edition, nonmembers will buy them for resale if they allow them too.

Callled BCV gift shop to see if I could get a watch on hold since I will be there next Sunday Aug 7th. Was told that the best they could do was hold one for me for 24 hours. The CM did tell me that they are gettting them in a couple every other day and that they should still have them when I come in. I'm just not that optimistic. :( They don't call me Lucky for nothing.

I was at OKW in late June and asked about the watches and they put my name on a list. They just called today and asked if we wanted one. We picked up one men's watch and they said no shipping or taxes since it was going out of state.

Darn, I wished I had taken a look at that watch now when we were at BCV last week. I overheard the sales lady in the shop telling a customer that they had just gotten these watches in last night, and she took it out of the case, I think it was a mini suitcase and showed it to the customer. I was trying not to be too obvious about being nosey. I was going to go back and look, but like a 2 year old I saw something shiny and forgot all about the watch.

I hink someone asked this in an earlier post but does anyone have a picture of the watches?
Thanks.

I hope they have a few left as we will be at OKW tomorrow.

Hey! I just read the Vacation Magin on the member website and it says that the watches are limited to 1000 each, for men's and womens. At the rate they are going, there is no hope for there to be any in January when I get there. Are there people having any luck getting one over the phone still?

They will not sell them over the phone anymore. You have to present your member card and I believe, it is now one per member.

For those who wanted to see pictures of the watches try this link:

watch1

watch2

Sorry about the double post - messed up the URL on the first and could not delete it ...

Thanks for showing the pictures. I could only get the 2nd link to work. I am glad I was able to order one this week!

I had e-mailed member services on Saturday (I believe) after calling OKW and was told NO! After sending the e-mail I thought it was worth a try and called SSR. In luck, they are sending one for DH and one for myself. To make a long story short after reading e-mail, which said to call OKW and they will send them and calling OKW again last night and getting same NO! I called BCV-DS's home resort. (DS and DDIL are BCV owners and DH and myself are SSR owners) "Sure no problem will send it out tomorrow (Friday)". My advice is to try another resort.

Good Luck!:teeth:

After having just dropped $30 for Florida sales tax on mail-order (to PA) Park Hopper Tickets, it's certainly refreshing to see that they apply those policies universally.

Isn't that is a state rule and not a Disney rule? When we go to Disney we always end up buying stuff and shipping it home. They never charge you for state sales tax when you buy merchandise and ship it out of state. The park tickets have always been excluded from this. I just assumed that was a florida law because even though the tickets are being shipped out of state they have to be used in state.

How did SSR confirm your membership? I was told they couldn't do it by phone because they had to see the actual card to confirm. They absolutely wouldn't take a member's number over the phone. How did you confirm your membership? Did you? Are you saying that now you have a total of 4 watches coming your way since you ordered from 2 different resorts? Just curious and trying to understand DVC's policy here - which, btw, I think is hopeless.
