DVC wake up

Because if I am out of my room they could then peek in to see if there is still luggage and not be waking me up early. I should not have to put up a sign not to be woken up 3 hours before checkout time. He stood there and knocked for a while. My husband is actually the one that heard it from the shower, turned the shower off and yelled at me that someone is knocking, I had to find time to find decent clothes to throw on quickly and he was still standing there knocking.

Because if they schedule housekeepers not until 11, then check in would be moved back to 7 p.m. and people would complain about that.

Sorry, but all a person needs to do to avoid the knock is to put up the DND sign on their door. It is very easy. Not housekeeping's fault at all.

Our stay last weekend there wasn't even a DND sign in the room. Asked housekeeping and they never brought it back. Had to go down to the front desk to get some. Sorry the customer shouldn't have to put the DND sign on to prevent an 8 am knock when check out is 11. Also the time it happened to me the DND sign was put out.

Because my parents came on the trip too, but stayed at Saratoga Springs. The way he kept knocking I thought it was them. They were supposed to be leaving to drive back from Maine at 6 AM. It never crossed my mind it was housekeeping.

It's happened to us. Even with the DND sign outside. Luckily we haven't even been woken up by it. We just tell them we aren't ready yet and try to give an estimate on when we will be.

I thought we just had a really antsy housekeeper at OKW last time when she stopped by like 6x between 8-11...I'm almost glad to know it's actually a thing. Next time, I'll be prepared with my DND sign & projected check-out time, lol!

In the past 8 visits (both DVC and hotel rooms), I've had this happen 5 times. Even with the DND sign on the door. One Mousekeeper was so persistent - she returned to the room 3 times - that I pocketed the tip I had planned to leave for her. On my next trip, I intend to put a Post-It note on the door the night before checkout stating when we intend to vacate the room and to not disturb us before then. The room is supposed to be ours until 11 AM. It's not unusual for us to sleep in on our last morning, grab a late breakfast at the hotel and then return to the room to freshen up before leaving.

The only time I've had it happen at WDW or other hotels is when I forget to put out the DND sign.

I would be annoyed if the ignored my DND sign and knocked at 8am. If I forget to put it out, that's a different story.

Annoying, okay. I'm surprised the OP was upset and not merely annoyed.

I get both sides but check out is 11 am so why not schedule housekeeping closer to 11 and have more over lap for cleaning check out rooms.

This gives housekeepers a mere five hours to thoroughly clean the largest units, which have had minimal WDW-standard cleaning over a potentially long period of time.

We had it happen and the housekeeper literally sat outside our door and kocked every hour and waited until we left at 11.

Your housekeeper knocked on your door at 8, 9, 10, and possibly 11 and didn't do anything else, including cleaning his other assigned rooms, between knocks? May I ask how you know he sat there for three hours? Were you monitoring him from inside your room?

This doesn't seem reasonable to me. Do your parents typically depart a couple of hours later than they plan? Would they not call you and let you know they're coming - or at least from the hallway when nobody answered the knocking? Or at least call out to you that they were at your door?

Yep. No way could they get all the rooms done if they had to wait until after check out time to start cleaning.

NO!!! I had that happen at one of the Disney hotels and it is WRONG!! They didn't quite like my response. Oh, and I DID have a sigh up!

I get that, but too bad. Seriously, you spend the money on a room and can stay until the posted check out time. It is wrong to "put the pressure" on the check out people. I don't know if this is a managerial issue pressuring the housekeepers, or if the housekeepers do it on their own to pressure people to leave early (so they can finish around 3 or 3:30 for the day).

Honestly, in times like these I think "What would Walt say?" I think he'd be disappointed.

That's why they supply Do Not Disturb signs.

This isn't just a WDW issue. I've had it happen at hotels all over when I forget to put out the sign. The people that had it happen with the sign out are a different. that I would be annoyed by.

Absolutely! I had this happen to me WITH a DND sign on the door knob. Hence why I was really annoyed when it happened to me.

I wonder how many of you complain if you don't get your room before official check in time. I do remember the one time we stayed at the Grand Californian several years ago (before DVC presence at the resort) and we were not allowed to check in before 3PM.

Sure, you can (and may) stay in the unit right up until the last second. Not everyone does of course. But "...too bad"? Many people do leave earlier. Some even accidentally leave the DND card in place.

Knowing now that housekeeping might start as early as 8, proactively calling housekeeping a day in advance to advise of one's estimated departure time should eliminate housekeeper harassment.

Yes they knocked that much. I'll admit I assumed they sat out there when the two times I left the room (one to grab breakfast and one to leave) she was sitting outside the door.

When we stayed in January, we didn't get the DND door hanger. Mouse keeping also didn't knock on our door at 8am. That would have greatly annoyed me.

We take our time on check out day. We've paid (a lot of money) for the room until 11am. We take our time and make the most of the morning.

If the rooms are such a terrible mess that they take so long to clean, perhaps DVC should increase the amount of mouse keeping DURING the stay rather than forcing members out at the break of dawn.

It can happen at any hotel. I've even had them come in if you don't answer quick enough. It's somewhat annoying but you really should use the do not disturb sign. Many people are out of their rooms early and I can understand why housekeeping wants to get started as soon as possible.
