DVC vs All Star room size?

Good morning.

We were thinking of trying the DVC point rental route late fall 2012. For the last two years, we stayed at All Star Music.
With a family of 4 (growing kids ages 6 and 8), we found that the All Star room were a little too tight with all of us in there.

Are the DVC rooms any bigger? Would a studio be bigger than those rooms or would we need a 1-BR?

The 2 BR would probably cost too many points.

Studios range in size from BLT's 300 sq feet to OKW's 390 sq feet. The other DVC studios are somewhere inbetween. I think the All-Star rooms are 260.

OKW has two queen beds in their studios; all other DVC studios at WDW have 1 queen bed and a full-size sofabed.

I couldn't find the square footage for BLT's one bedroom, but OKW's is 942. The others are, again, inbetween. With a one bedroom, you get a king bed in the bedroom, and a sleeper sofa in the living room. OKW, BLT and some AKV units have an additional sleeper chair in the living room, which is really nice if the kids don't want to share a bed.

With the one bedroom, you also get a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and jacuzzi tub. BLT 1 bedrooms and some AKV one bedrooms also have two bathrooms.

By compsarison, All Stars are 260 sq. ft., so you can see even in a studio you get quite a bit more room. One bedrooms are great because you also get a full kitchen and in the newer ones (like BLT and AKV-K) a second bathroom.

Also, DVC studios have individual balconies, which Value and Moderate resorts don't have.

As a start for you I would book a studio at okw , the room is bigger and the bathroom is also bigger you cannot go wrong and will most likely be hooked on DVC from there.enjoy.

Okw studios have 2 beds. Other DVC studios have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa.

However, I believe that BCV or BWV would be most fun for 6 & 8 year olds.

All DVC studios have a closet, a balcony, a small fridge, a toaster, and a coffee maker.

I don't think the value resort studios even have closets--at least the ones we've stayed in did not (just a rod off the sink area).

The difference is substantial!
