What is suppose to happen if I pull up to the BW Valet Parking, get out of my car, show the Valet (attendant) my DVC Membership Card. I will tell you what happend to me. I was charged $6.00. I thought, and according to the Fall 2001 Vacation Magic if you show your DVC Membership Card or Walt Disney Resort ID which states you are a DVC Member you will receive this service at no charge. What happened was the Valet (attendant) after I showed him my DVC Membership card asked to see my resort ID which I did not have. In the Fall 2001 Vacation Magic it also says regardless of where they are staying. What I want to know is if I showed him my DVC Membership Card should Valet (attendant) have asked to see my Walt Disney Resort ID according to the Fall 2001 Vacation Magic (page 2) rule. The two things that stand out are or and regardless of where they are staying and nowhere does it say you have to or may be asked to show both. What is your experience with this? Thank You

WE did the same thing when checking in--so obviously we could not have resort ID yet, and we were not charged...I certainly hope you did not pay the $6, I am sure they would remove the charge for you once things were straightened out...

Tony, I was just going through a stack of papers near the computer & happen to have the Fall 2001 issue of Vacation Magic in front of me. On page 2 it states "... Disney Vacation Club Members will not be charged for valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where they are staying. Disney Vacation Club Members must show their DVC Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID indicating that they are a DVC Member when leaving their vehicle to be parked in order to reeive this service at no charge at either Disney's BoardWalk Reosrt or Disney's Wilderness Lodge. ..." Did you ask to speak to a supervisor? I agree that you should not have been charged.

The wording is ambigious. The intent is that a DVC member staying at either a DVC resort or a WDW resort will not be charged for valet parking. If you are staying offsite and/or a resident on a day trip you are not entitled to the free valet parking.

The wording is unambiguous.

"However, Disney Vacation Club Members will not be charged for valet parking at Disney's BoardWalk Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge, regardless of where they are staying."

I can't see where there's any intent, stated or implied, that a DVC member must stay at a DVC resort or a WDW resort to avoid the charge for valet parking. The phrase "regardless of where they are staying" says in plain English that a DVC member can be staying anywhere, not limited to DVC resorts and/or on-site WDW resorts.

"Disney Vacation Club Members must show their DVC Member card or Walt Disney World Resort ID indicating that they are a DVC Member when leaving their vehicle to be parked in order to receive this service at no charge at either Disney's BoardWalk Resort or Disney's Wilderness Lodge."

Notice the word "or." All a member needs is a DVC Member card to get this benefit. Thus, the wording shows this to be a benefit of DVC membership, not a benefit limited to DVC point stays. (In comparison, the wording for pool hopping clearly requires that a member must be staying at a DVC resort with DVC points, and thus the member must show a resort ID showing "DVC member.")

If the policy has changed or has been reworded since the Fall 2001 issue of Vacation Magic, I'm not aware of it. There is not any newer policy at the DVC Member site as of now.

I agree with Werner's interpretation, and it seems pretty unambiguous to me. If they intended what Pam has said they did, then they certainly have a problem with their wording (I'm not saying that that wasn't what was intended).

The wording is certainly not ambigious. DVC members do NOT pay for valet parking at BWV and I assume Wilderness (of course, we ALWAYS tip).

I've stayed off site a number of times since they imposed the $6 fee and simply showed my DVC Card upon arrival and also showed it when picking up. Never was charged the $6.

Just finishing talking to member services and they said the ID should be enough at DVC resorts.

Okay. I'm wrong. I assumed since they do not permit area DVC members to pool hop they also would not allow free valet parking without staying on-site. So, I guess we get an extra perk.

Is there valet parking at Vero Beach? When my MIL and I check out Vero on Dec 2nd are we allowed to use valet parking at no charge since I am a DVC owner?

There is no valet parking at Vero. The visitor lot is across the street. There is a tunnel under A1A. Tell the guard what you are doing and they may be able to direct you to a spot on the Inn side of the road if one is available.

for the replies. I now know valet parking at WLV and BWV is a member benefit regardless of where I'm staying.

We were just at VWL last week and I did not even have to show the attendant my DVC card. I told him that we were DVC members staying at the Villas and that was enough to suffice apparently. I did have the card out but he never questioned or asked for the card as proof.

Just thought I would add my two and a half cents.
