Is Valet parking FREE for DVC members or is it discounted? Is it free/discounted at all Disney Resorts- (so if we visit Poly or AKL is it available to us?)

We have ALWAYS self-parked but DBF just had the first of two hernia surgeries before we leave. I think he'll be okay, but I'd like to know about this in case we need to use it.

Also, if we valet park at VWL when we arrive will someone take the luggage out of the car for us? He's not supposed to lift anything.

One last question, I'm sure if we use valet, we will give a tip. How much is usual and customary?

Thanks!

Valet service is free for DVC members at DVC resorts (BWV, VWL and BCV). Tipping is suggested.

At other WDW resorts, there is a $6 charge per day for everyone- so you can use the service at other resorts on the same day if desired.

Valet parking is only free at the DVC resorts -- VWL, BCV and BWV. All other Disney resorts charge $6 plus tip. If you do pay at one rsort, they give you a tag to show you've paid for the day and can then valet at other WDW resorts.

The bellman should take your luggage out of the car when you pull up. You should tip $1-$2 per bag.

The tip for the valet is a debatable point. I usually tip coming and going. Some only tip on pick-up. The amount seems to vary from $2-$10 dollars. Of course, if you are going to be pulling the car in and out quite often, you might want to go easy on each tip....they add up quickly.

Valet parking is free when you show your DVC Member card or resort ID with DVC Member on it at all DVC Resorts only, BCV, WLV, BWV. Valet is $6 at other WDW Resorts for a 24 hour period, if you pay at the Poly show the ticket at the Cont. and there is no charge for the same day. Yes the valet will unload your car. Usual tip is from .50 to $1 per piece depending on the service

I tip $5 for valet parking, have for years everywhere, but I have one thing to say. At WDW somehow people think they should tip when they arrive. I never heard of this before. You see-PLEASE NOTE- they haven't done anything for you yet. I don't tip for service not done yet. When you leave a car for valet parking , the man or women you give a tip to may never see the inside of your car. Now here is something that almost made me laugh- I valet parked at BWV the last trip and the valet came over to me and said I am "gave me his name" and went on to tell me He would be parking my car. He tried to hustle me for a tip when I arrived. I can not beleive it. Your car may be left for some time and used when someone comes who needs a car, then they drive it down to where they park. I consider myself a very good tipper but you will never catch me tipping the valet when I arrive.

I just heard something yesterday that I had not heard before and have not seen in print. For those that qualify for the Disney Dining Experience, I'm told it includes free Valet Parking at all WDW resorts that have such. And for those that aren't aware of DDE, it's a FL resident program good for special events and dining discounts of 20% at most Disney restaurants.

Dean, on our trip earlier this month we were with friends who havethe Florida resident dining card, & they were told valet parking is complimentary for them.

Also, if anyone has a handicapped perking permit, then valet parking is complimentary at WDW resorts.

Oh man.....I was just at WDW with a friend who had one of those cards. She saved so much money!!

Did she save you money? It's good for the entire party you know even if all aren't FL residents. Heck, for someone who goes a lot with a family and eats out a fair amount, it might be worth it to buy a rental property where you can get mail and have an address nad property tax bill. I have several physician friends who have 6-9 children, can you believe the check if you go to eat at WDW or worse, to buy tickets. Maybe they should have a family pass that stops increasing in cost when you get to 6 people total.

Very often I will do this, not just at WDW. The person parking hasn't done anything yet. But, he/she is about to select where to park your car. Sometimes a tip will find the car a better spot. ;)
This tip is similar to slipping something to the maitre'd to find you a better table...sometimes it is helpful.

Of course, it's not necesary to tip both ways but I will do it sometimes.

Traditionally a tip WAS paid before the service was rendered which is where the term came from:

To Insure Proper Service.

At BCV, I was given a valet parking pass good for all Disney Resorts,t hat's right all of them, on three of the days during my recent stay. The other two days were check in and check out. It was pretty nice being able to valet anywhere for free.

I just wanted to comment on the point Pa@okw95 made about the person who greets you may not actually get in your car and park it. When we went to BCV to look around in August, we valeted the car. When we came back out an hour or so later, our car was still under the awning, with the keys in it. We did tip the guy who was standing there mainly because we would have tipped him anyway if he had to get the car. I generally don't tip when dropping the car off unless the valet unloads my bags.
