During our stay at SSR this week we found out (from a reliable source) that:

1. Fastpass revamp - since everyone is now using it it is not as fast as it once was. One thing that is being looked at is a type of Front of the Line (like Universal's) this could be a possible DVC perk!

2. SSR extra theme pool - because of the third phase of SSR an additional theme pool is being looked at. This would be in the farthest areas of the resort.

3. The Contemporary is definitely being looked at as a new DVC resort at WDW.

4. Don't be surprised to see a DVC built somewhere else in the US. We were told think big!

We've been at OKW and BWV since the 4th and have visited SSR a lot to see the new resort and some friends there. Rumors of everything but a DVC on the moon are all over the place. Every CM has a good story or ten.

Things you can count on:

1) Phase 3b of SSR to replace the fairway villas will have a good sized pool with refreshments available - sort of like the back pool at OKW. This is on the current architectual drawings which can be seen in many places around SSR and DVC (although not officially). Nothing like a slide was shown.

2) MK will have Cinderellabration borrowed from Tokyo Disney as a new event.

3) The Motors Stunt Show will start at MGM next year and Expedition Everest will come to AK in 2006 (a lot of the steelwork and track is in place).

Rumors you can hear from CM's in the know :D

1) Phase 3c or 4 of SSR will replace the Treetop villas

2) DVC will build a 40 story tower where the north tower of the Contemporary now stands :yo-yo:

3) DVC will build above the Poly parking lot.

4) DVC will replace California Adventure as no one goes there anyhow

Well - perhaps that was a sly play on words,,,,, you know, a "wink wink"sort of thing. "Think big..." Big = Grand...... not to much of a strech with Disneyland rumors to come to a Grand Californian conclusion! One can hope! The GC is absolutely gorgeous. DH and I are fans of Disneyland (countless visits), and would love to be able to stay on points there! Well - you can stay on points now, but it's cheaper just to rent the points out and use the cash! I'll be crossing my fingers!
:smooth:

Actually this was not from a CM (such as in the food court or elsewhere). I can't say who but it is someone who definitely knows what is going on and is up there in the organization.

Cora, glad to see you made it safe and sound!! Was your trip down okay?

Actually the Treetop Villas are a major issue. Many of them were hit by trees blown over by Charley. Because this area is conservation land they cannot get in there to take the trees out with trucks. It was incredible the damage we could see from the road.

PamOKW,
Thanks for asking...the trip down was flawless. Left on time, car available, etc. Had a great time. This was a different trip for us...NO PARKS (except Blizzard Beach). Very relaxing and enjoyable.

Think big = cruise ship (IMHO)

The state of Florida approved sweeping legislation this past June to its timeshare laws. In my read of it, the primary reason for the change was to allow personal property, in addition to real property, as a timeshare. The words "cruise ship" were added to the timeshare law in dozens of places and language specific to personal property was purposely included.

Let's see. What company in Florida is a proven success at timesharing, has the legislative clout to get the law changed, and has a timeshare buyer base of over 80,000 people , in addition to millions of potential buyers per year?

I think a DVC cruise ship would be a very creative concept.

Must be in Texas .... EVERYTHING'S big in Texas .... Right?

But then, Alaska is pretty big too!

New Resort: I'm thinking somewhere in or around DLR. There's just much synergy when a DVC resort is on Disney property. How are the Grand Californian's occupancy rates? ;)

FOTL perk would be fantastic. We stayed at Portofino Bay at the end of one trip for US and loved it.

We just spent 8 days in July in Orlando- 3 nights at AKL on points, 5 nights off site, but only 1 park day-Epcot for the Segway tour and Mission Space.

FOTL would get us into the parks, at least for a while, and now that we aren't tied to the school calendar we are looking forward to January trips. Oh, I hope it is true.

Wow! Can't wait now to see which of these rumors actually come to life::yes::

How does FOTL actually work anyway? Haven't been to Universal in yrs now (since before FOTL or FP at WDW ).

And about the DVC - CR rumor, do you think that the outrageous room rates at the CR for the tower rooms will stay that outrageous if a new DVC tower gets put up right next to it? 40 some floors towering over only 15 would kind of make it loose it's apeal a little no?

Thank you for giving this info especially with the new law change. Very interesting, although I wonder whether Disney would have the steady volume to sustain it. I suppose an option would be certain sections/rooms on cruise would be designated DVC vs. a whole cruise ship? Is that possible?

I have heard raves about the FOTL perks from friends/family who stayed as Universal guests. Smart also it may get DVC members who have a non park trip back into the park - of course a discounted AP would probably go a longer way there. :p

DVC additions appear to enhance a property not overpower it. The tower is the landmark. Since the rumor is one of the wings I would be 99.9% sure that your scenario would never happen because it would take away from the Contemporary main building. Regarding the FOTL feature, I'll let someone answer who has stayed on property vs. my anecdotal info.

Hmmm... Vely Intelesting.

If this actually came about, I wonder if this would give existing DVC members a better deal for a trade option onto a cruise. The current point cost for a cruise is nothing to get excited about.

FOTL access allows you to enter a separate line that "usually" equates to getting directly on the ride/attraction if you are staying at HRH, PB, or RPR.

We have done this several times.....it is fantastic!
