OK, so we are using 225 points on an AKL concierge stay next month. I have never purchased travel insurance for our trip. However, we are flying out of Boston and you never know about weather delays this time of year. Also, we are all healthy but it is always possible to catch a virus or the flu. Any thoughts on whether or not the insurance is worth it? Does it cover things such as stomach bug/flu? TIA :)

Generally it' a good idea to get travel insurance you never know what can happen. We did a lot of research and searched the Dis boards and found that Travel Guard was the best fit for us and had the most recommendations on the boards

Go to www.insuremytrip.com for a good overview of the travel insurance market. If you want to insure the points, then you will want a timeshare specific product. The value of such coverage depends on your personal situation. Generally an annual product is more cost effective than per trip plans if you travel often.

In our situation we find it particularly beneficial for travel outside the country for emergency medical expense, medical transportation and repatriation benefits. Those are particularly difficult and expensive to navigate on your own in an emergent situation. They can be quite helpful for domestic travel situations as well.

Make sure you read and understand pre-existing condition limitations and other contract terms in the policy.

Has anyone used the insurance through Disney? Does it cover flight delay? Also, does it cover things like the flu? :confused3

I am interested in this as well. I have purchased it before but never had to make a claim or anything. I would like to hear from someone who has made a claim and what it was for. I am thinking about what happened last week where JetBlue just shut down. Did anyone have to use it for that or was Disney able to accommodate people's changes?

Thanks for any advice. I think I will try just in case as it is only $89 thru Disney but I have to make my decision as I am getting down to the wire on being able to buy 1 month before departure.

To me it's not really worth it cause it only gives you money back on dues paid on those points , you still loose the points
