DVC travel insurance

Does anyone know how much you get reimbursed per DVC point if you have to cancel for a valid reason? I read the pdf information on the DVC website but I couldn't find a dollar value per point. TIA.

I phoned last night and spoke to a cm about the dvc insurance. she said if we had to cancel the policy re-imburses you for the dues you have paid in that use year, I never thought to ask her is it not the points for that said trip you get re-imbursed for as she was very clear about if you had to cancel for say in our situation ash cloud etc then its the dues you have paid in that given use year :confused3

totally confused now.

Up in post #8 there is a quoted section that states it pays you maintenance fees for that use year, I believe. Which is weird, wouldn't it pay you the maintenance fees for the # of points needed for the reservation, not your entire year's worth of maintenance fees?

Very confusing - but I doubt we would ever purchase it, so I guess I don't care!

Once coverage is elected, the Member and their Traveling Companions are covered for all benefits, up to fifteen people total, provided the maximum occupancy of the unit(s) is(are) not exceeded. Associates can be covered when not traveling with the Primary Member if they are a spouse.
This statement was what frustrated our family when reviewing the policy. The trip we canceled due to the ice storm before MLK weekend affected travel for our daughter and son-in-law (they were stuck in Atlanta). The trip had been planned to celebrate our son-in-law's birthday, so we didn't want to go without them. Because they were not flying from the same location we were, this cancellation was NOT covered. If your extended family frequently MEETS at Disney for your trips, then this may or may not be the insurance for you. For our family, we typically travel separately and meet once in Orlando, but the Travelex insurance would only cover those who are physically traveling with hubby and me.... rather than the 9 total people in our party.

Our upcoming trip includes points I banked from my Feb 2010 UY, our current UY and some rented points. Can I get coverage for all these points?

Otherwise I'll be happy to just cover the points from this year for the $79 and not worry about the few points from last year and the rented points. As long as it will still cover flights, baggage, medical etc.

Anyone know the answer to this?

This is more advic than an answer, but because of your situation, I would call. This way you'll get the most accurate response and be able to ask other questions if they come up.
I would love to hear your results, though.

i am interested in buying the insurance for our big trip this summer,as we used 2 years worth of points.

I understand I need to buy two policies for this since we have used two years and i get who is covered.

I have a question on what you get back though. If we cancelled due to emergency and we cant go...death in family etc.
how do we document this and who says how much we get back?

the rooms for this trip ar costing well over 10k ..which i know is the minimum amount. so do we just show the points we used and get the 10k back?

I'm considering purchasing insurance, largely since I'm cruising to Bahamas (for emergencies on board or outside the country). Price went up to $89. Plus DVC updated their site, so you can only find it after you log into your reservation. For me, it seems a like small price to pay for peace of mind, given our off-American-soil situation.

Regarding reimbursement (at least in the case of weather). You will be reimbursed a portion of your maintenance fees only.

For instance:
$1,222.00 fees for 260 points = $4.70 per point
If you miss one night in a studio for 18 points you would be reimbursed 18*$47.70 = $84.60

There is a limit to monetary compensation, I believe I read it was $1,000.00 for trip delay
