I have been trying for days to get into the member website and look at the places we can trade to in SC. I can't get it to come up. Is anyone else having trouble? Has anyone stayed at a resort either in HH or Myrtle Beach that is directly on the ocean? If so which one and is it nice. Do you have a direct website to it? Thanks for the help. Would like to trade for next March and I don't want my time to run out.

I just accessed the list on the Member's Only site without problem. It is in pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format- so make sure you have loaded Adobe to view the pages.

There are 3 Marriotts at HH which are on the list- Barony Beach, Grande Ocean and Harbour Club.

You can view these and other choices at the RCI website. DVC doesn't use RCI for these exchanges, but you can still get an idea about the resorts, as most are available thru both II and RCI.

Enjoy!

You can also get into the II website at Interval International . Just go to the right and slightly down to click on the Resort Directory. I can speak for HH and would say that Grande Ocean and Barony would truly be awesome. Harbour Club is in a nice location but not on the beach by any means and not as nice as DVC or the others in question. The other Marriott on HH I'd consider would be Monarch but it's not on the DVC list. I can honestly say that I would consider Barony and GO to both be slightly ahead of DVC overall. Both are in a better location, beachfont, though GO by far the better location. I can't really speak to Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and the like though looking at the reviews on TUG I suspect they all would be a trade down for DVC.

I own at GO and went and bought another week there after our stay last summer. While DVC is my first love, there are many things I prefer about GO. There are other resorts to consider not on the DVC list, I'd look for a direct exchange for a number of reasons.

Dean,

I've never been to Hilton Head.

How is Hilton Head in the Spring? From The DVC points chart, it appears that DVC considers Hilton Head to be a Summer destination. But looking at the climate charts for Hilton Head at Weather.com, Hilton Head looks promising in the Spring -- perhaps too cold for the beach, but great for other outdoor activities.

Is Hilton Head a good destination in March and April?

(Marriott's Barony Beach and Grande Ocean timeshare resorts look very promising.)

Personally, I wish I could go in April, May, Sept, Oct or early November. It's very hot in the summer though still great. Only 3 more years until I can vacation while you're kids are in school though I'll then have 2 in college and may not be able to afford to go. I've stayed at GO and own there, I've toured Barony twice, had 2 concurrent weeks at Monarch and stayed at DVC-HH. I've also stayed at Marriott's Harbour Pointe where I also own and is on the other side of Shelter cove from DVC.

My personal feelings are that I'd rate GO, Barony then DVC from a resort standpoint. From a location standpoint, I'd rate Monarch, GO, Harbour Club, Barony, Swallowtail, Spicebush. I'd put Harbour Pointe, Sunset Pointe, DVC as not as good locations as the rest (and many others on HH) though not in bad locations. Resort Quality compared to location, I'd rate as GO, Monarch, Barony, DVC. All are great resorts and none are in bad locations.

Hi Merilyn!

Let me know what you decide since John and I may make an exchange at HH in the future. Hope all is well with you:)

Merylin, I have also had trouble downloading info from the official site lately. I already have the Southern Carolina exchanges downloaded and if you would like a copy of the pdf file, please email me and I would be happy to send you it.
