Hi there, I have a question about going on a DVC tour. My DH are going for a quick trip on March7-10th! (YEAH 3 weeks away) and we were considering taking a DVC tour on the Sunday we arrive since we are not planning on a park that day. We wanted to stay at DVC this time because we are going to be renting next year for a family trip but we couldn't get a studio for those dates. I am wondering how I would go about asking for a tour. We are staying at Pop Century and I don't know if I should call DVC before I go and ask for a tour or just ask when I get to Pop Century. Do they schedule appointments or can I just stop by when we are at the Boardwalk? What do you all think? Thanks for any input! Maybe in a few weeks I will be a fellow DVC member! By the way how bad are the dues each year, I don't want my DH to have sticker shock during the tour!!! Maybe if I prep him, I'll have a better chance!

Thanks!

If you have a specific time you'd like to tour, I'd just call now (1-800-800-9100) make a reservation. DVC will even pick you up at your resort and take you back later!

Enjoy the tour! :)

We stayed at CBR and they had a DVC kiosk at OPR. We were undecided on times to schedule then and there so we ended up calling them from our room on a whim when we had an hour to kill.
They managed to fit us in on the spot and the van came to pick us up 20 minutes later.
Easy stuff-they gave us 2 instant fast passes for our time at the tour and the van would've dropped us off wherever we wanted but we were heading to Epcot so we just walked from the BWV-it's a 5 minute walk
Good luck with the DVC- my DH is convinced, I'm convinced-now I just need some overtime!!

Speak to a sales representative in advance, read through the materials that he or she sends you, and see if it's possible for you to make a decision fairly quickly after taking the tour. The sales rep might offer you a deal on points that is only good for 3 days after the tour. However, you can speak to the rep as much as you like on the phone without triggering that 3-day clock.

When you get to WDW you'll find kiosks set up everywhere that are prepared to book your SSR tour. But WebMaster Doc's advice to call ahead is still the best.

Dues vary by resort, but average roughly $4 per point per year. That means that the minimum purchase of 150 SSR points will cost about $600 per year (not counting any finance payments on your membership purchase), and will buy you 9 days in a studio during Dream Season, which is right in the middle of the seasonal price range.

Have a great time on your trip!

HHI-$3.86
BCV-$4.17

Thanks Everyone! I think I will call first and try and schedule a tour before we get there and I like the idea of having the information before we go. Please tell me the truth though, are they high pressure. I still can't justify buying into this just yet (but I am working on it!) and I think if they are high pressure I am liable to stay forget it. Also, where is the tour now? I thought it was still at the Boardwalk, and hasn't moved to SSR yet. If I tour with DVC now I will only be offered SSR right? Not any option to buy for BWV or any of the others?

Once again, thanks, I am getting my feet wet but not sure I am going to take the plunge. I am a bit worried because all of you say you go and come back owners!! I think I need to think this through pretty good before the tour as I am sure the tour is the one thing to that will push us over the edge!

Hi!
No pressure at all from the lady who gave us the presentation...it only took about an hour and from what I understood you can only buy SSR direct right now-although I could be confused;)
DH and I were not at all interested before we went but it was our very first trip to WDW and were captivated by the magic. Now I'm very seriously wanting to buy in and just need to wait until our finances improve a bit.We didn't buy in when we were there-although if we hadn't just finished spending alot of dough on snowmachines I think we probably would've. Not high pressure-been to high pressure timeshare presentations and like you they just make me adament NOT to do it!! I'm stubborn by nature and the feeling of being forced into something makes me cringe. The only thing is they seem to offer a 'deal' of some kind if you aggree to purchase before your time at the WDW is up-least they did with us.
You can buy BWV resale if you decide that's more suited to you.
HTH All the best...
maggie:)

They'll very cordially invite you to buy, of course. But it won't be like buying a used car!--much lower pressure.
