I am traveling to Disney next month and would like to schedule a DVC tour for me and my husband. We didn't know if we should make a prior reservation or schedule down there. Does anyone have any guides they recommend for the tour?

I would just schedule down there. You never know when it'll be a rainy day! :thumbsup2
My guide was Stephen Fisher - very nice & professional.

Ryan Taylor is our guide. We toured in January and he was not pushy at all. He made sure that we were educated about the process and choices. We waited until May to make our initial purchase. We will be traveling on points for the second time in October and cannot wait!!

I would make an appointment once you get there. DVC info desks are everywhere! Good luck and make sure you have a referral!

Our guide, Bill Koontz, is great and very attentive. He always contacts me back when I need him and worked hard to get me exactly what I wanted with my contract.

Good luck and enjoy the tour and your trip!!

How long does a tour take?

I believe it lasts anywhere from 1 - 2 hours. You get cookies and lemonade, and we got ice cream at the end!

Its a great way to see what the rooms at BLT and AKV look like!

Ohhh, I thought it would be more like a half day. I guess they don't physically take you to each resort? I may have to schedule a tour for our quickie October trip if our resale contract gets rejected.

no. the models for the resorts they are selling are all at SSR, so there's no need to leave the SSR grounds.

if you want to check out the other resorts, you are on your own. (be aware of the BWV model that is easy to check out on your own on the boardwalk.)

There are lots of great guides, some OK ones, and a few unfortunate ones, as told here on the DisBoards.

Just to be sure our Great guide is mentioned, STEVE TINN has been wonderful for us. He always calls our room when in The World to be sure all is good.

So again . . . . . STEVE TINN

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't DVD opening up models of BLT on the first floor of BLT?

Yes, they already have. My parents took their tour there last week.

I was actually a little shocked ours remembered us. We met with him in January and did not buy then. Called back in April and he remembered everything about us when we spoke. I'm sure he logged our info into some system when we met, but it was a very nice touch when he asked very pointed questions on our kids and my job.
