DVC Tour Perks for Current Owners?

DW, the kids and I took the tour last year and got the fastpasses and the ice-cream. We almost bought a 100 pt contract at AKV, but our guide "made a mistake" on what he promised us, and it fell through. We felt he was too used-car-salesmanish for our tastes and demanded a new guide. Since then we bought a 25 pt contract at VWL resale and added on with our new guide. We will probably add on another 50 points at AKV in the future.

Here's my question. I wouldn't mind meeting our new guide in person when we are down this August. I also wouldn't mind seeing the models of BLT. If we take another tour this year as current owners, will we still get the Fastpasses, or just the ice-cream?

We also got a new Guide and we were told that Fast Passes are like gold. Each group is only given so many so they tend to save them for the new buyers.

My member friends and I took a tour of the BLT and AKV models last fall - no perks. It was a self guided tour in the evening, they don't usually do a "guided tour" with current members.

There are Member Open Houses where the current DVC members are allowed to tour the models. I believe it is most afternoons. The full blown tours are for prospective buyers only.

We just bought into BLT. When we were on our tour our guide mentioned that she likes to do the first reservations for her clients, and that when we come down for our first trip home, we wont need to wait in any lines as she will send us a bunch of the FP cards. She assured us we would not have to wait in a line for the hole trip.

How likely is it that she is going to come thought with this promise??

She probably was being funny! She would send so many fast passes you would not need to wait in line for the whole trip!:) That is how I would take her comment.

We received 3 fast passes for each night and each person (12 a day), when we next visit Disneyland. We received them for coming to the Grand Events for VGC! It is possible! :)

Yep, this is what we do too. Actually I never had a tour. I choose DVC sight unseen, no tour. Was referred to my guide by my BFF and never regretted it. So never got fastpasses, ice cream, or even a pin.

OP, since you're a member now the honeymoon is over. If you want to see the model it's 5-7 at SSR for current members. We've been there a few times when friends or family want to take a look.

We joined DVC and closed on our contract in May 2009 without taking a tour of the models. At the time we closed, we already had a family gathering at WDW scheduled for 6/7-6/15. We asked our guide if we could meet him and get a tour of the models when we were at WDW in June. He told us that the models are open from 5:00-7:00 PM and we could visit then. However, he said if that time was not convenient for us, then just stop by the DVC center at SSR and someone could show us the models. We got to Orlando on the Saturday before our family gathering and we stopped by SSR around 1:00 PM. We told them we just joined DVC and wanted a tour. We had to wait only about 10 minutes before an intern showed us the BLT and AKV models.

BTW, we didn't get to meet our guide. He works from home and said he is not permitted to meet with customers at the DVC center at SSR.

We originally joined 8 years ago, and our original guide has long since left. We were assigned a new guide who was very faithful about keeping in touch, despite the fact that we didn't add on, and we had never met him in person. Then this year we added on at both BLT and VGC. I wanted to meet him, so we just went to the models at SSR during the day and got lucky and were able to meet him. I didn't want anything, not really even the tour, though we did that, nor the ice cream, which we did get. I just wanted to put a face with the name, which I was glad I did. He also printed out directions for us to Vero Beach, our next stop!

I think they'll be extra responsive if you mention that you are in the market for more points. My guide knew that I was holding out for the Contemporary (even before they admitted it existed) and VGC. So I think that helped him hold out hope that we would eventually buy more.

It depends. She'll have to get approval for the FP's and if she's denied then you won't be able to get them. Also they expire 4days from being issued so no matter how many you get after the 4th day they are useless.

Last year that type of whole trip FP thing was part of an incentive to buy into AKV. So it's not impossible that she got pre-approval for them.

She just called me today to talk to me about the booking. Says she is going to mail me some Disney coloring books for my DD, and some Pins she knows we were hunting for while we were down there a few weeks ago. She says we will have them in a few weeks.

She also let me know that I am booked for my 4 night 2 bedroom at BLT in Jan, and that there will be FPs waiting for me at check in.

Will see if she does it.

P.S. I have not signed the paperwork yet, so I am sure she is working hard to be sure that we don't back out.

Sounds like a great guide! If she's following up like that and stating again that there will be FPs then I'd expect to see FPs. Very nice bit of pixie dust! :wizard: :goodvibes
