DVC timeshare resale and grandfathered in..

I was thinking of adding on and called to see what is the bottom line on this March 21 deadline. I'm told if you are in the mist of buying the resale before the 21st you will be grandfathered in?

I'm a bit worried.. anyone hear this?

As long as your accepted offer has been submitted for ROFR by 3/20/11 you will be grandfathered into DVC.

A true "add-on" is done using a direct purchase from DVC to your original membership and those will not be affected in any way by the 3/20/11 deadline. If you are wanting a resale "add-on" you will need to make sure that the deed uses exactly the same names as your original membership and that the Use Year of the resale purchase is the same - and you inform DVC of the details of your purchase before closing.

Can you expand on informing DVC of the details... we were not told this and now I'm concerned. We are doing a resale "Add-on".

When we did a resale add-on several years ago, I simply informed MS of the details regarding the add-on and asked that it be added to the original master contract number. I cannot remember if the timing was right before closing or just after. The Timeshare store was very helpful in this, and also suggested I make a note of it on the paperwork they would be forwarding to Disney. Hope that helped.
