We are going in Dec to WDW and I am trying to price everything out.

I called MS to get ticket prices and they told me about the Lenght of Stay tickets (LOS). She said that LOS for 1 adult for a 5 day, 6 night would be $300 - 10% + tax. So that is 270 + tax. She didn't know the tax rate, but did say that these can only be purchased at our check-in.

When I go to disney online, I see that you can purchase 5 day tickets for 259.00 + tax for the Ultimate park hopper pass.

Where is the Member discount:confused:

It seems to me that I would pay less if I just purchased straight from the disney site.

If I am missing something, please fill me in!!

The 5 day/ 6 night tickets include unlimited access to the theme parks, the waterparks, Pleasure Island and disney Quest during your stay. These tickets expire at the end of your stay - whether you use them or not.

Without looking up the price, I'm quite sure the 5 day tickets you saw online were either 5 Day Park Hopper tickets or 5 Day Park Hopper Plus tickets. Both give you 5 days of admission to the theme parks and the PHP ticket would also give you a combined total of 4 admissions to the water parks and Pleasure Island. Neither PH or PHP tickets include Disney Quest. The days of admission and plus option admissions never expire. You could use any days or options you don't use on this trip in the future.

DVC does not offer a discount on PH or PHP plus tickets.

To decide which is best for you, you'll have to do the math based on your park touring plans.

HTH -

P.S. The tax rate for tickets is 6.5%

You aren't comparing apples to apples here. The price given to you by DVC is for a 6 day/5 night pass, so it's for 6 days admission and it's an UPH. Which means you can come and go as much as you like to all of WDW parks, including the water parks and Disney Quest. The other ticket you are quoting is for a 5 day park hopper plus ticket. That ticket gives you admission for any 5 days (doesn't have to be consequetive ilke UPH) as well as 2 pluses. The pluses can be used for admission to the water parks, Wide World of Sports and Pleasure Island. If you really only plan on being in the parks for 5 consecutive days, you can have them drop off either the check-in or check-out day on the UPH at check-in. If you decide to use that option and purchase a 5 day/4 night UPH, that price is $259 less 10% plus 6.5% tax. You specifically have to ask at check-in to have the day you want dropped, or they will sell you the 6 day/5 night pass.

Actually, the 5 Day PHP from Disney would only get you two plusses for P.I. , Waterparks, not 4. Sometimes, Walmart and the online ticket promoters have a 5 day with 4 plusses but not all the time.

Ok.. so the price I see online, the 259.00 IS the same cost that I would get at the resort as a LOS pass? When I asked MS if I could do a 5 day instead of a 6 day (late arrival on 1st day) she said that the resort may do it for you. But that it is a risk that I have to take!

That does sound like a much better deal! I just don't want to be stuck with a Length of stay pass that we will lose days on if we are forced to purchase a 6 day instead.

Will the price of 259.00 still be the same in Dec? When I asked in MS, she said that she didn't know..

And that if they wouldn't let you do a 5 day, 4 night then I would be stuck paying "gate passes".

Should I call back and clarify? She has got me all confused now!

Yes, that's correct. Also, I think we both made the same mistake when looking at prices. The $259 price for the 5 day LOS pass is for advance purchase only(hence why it was on the Disney website), the gate (check-in) price is $282. So minus the 10% discount, you're looking at $253 plus tax for that ticket. Here is a website that lists both the advance purchase prices and gate (check-in) prices. http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticketchart.htm Remember that DVC's 10% discount is on the gate price, not the advance purchase price, which basically end up being the same thing.

Read my post above about prices, and the mistake we both made. The price I quoted above will still be the same in December, becasue WDW has already announced an increase in ticket prices for 2005, so they won't increase them before then.

But how do you purchase them in advance? She said that you could only purchase them when you check-in.

I am one of those people who feel much better when I have them in my hand before I leave for the trip!

The prices on disneyworld.com are the advance purchase prices. DVC only takes the discount off the gate price, which is more. If you buy in advance, I believe you have to include every day of your stay, including arrival and departure day. I don't believe you can get the DVC discount in advance, you have to get them at the front desk. If you buy at the front desk, they will usually allow you to drop the arrival and/or departure day.

See here for UPH prices (before discount):

You may have confused the MS cm, there is no such thing as a 5 day/6 night. It would be 6 day/5 night or 5 day/4 night.

There is no such thing as a "5 day, 6 night" LOS pass. The Unlimited Magic Pass (UMP) is designed to be good for one more day than the number nights you are staying, not one less.

The adult "4 night/5 days" UMP pass is 300.34 - 10% DVC discount.

The adult "5 night/6 days" UMP pass is 335.50 - 10% DVC discount.

It's a good value only if you enjoy intensive park visits, especially theme parks and water parks in the same day -- and if you're not staying long enough (or not planning to return within 12 months) to make one of the annual passes a better value.

For for ticket prices, see http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/tickets.htm

You can not purchase UPH in advance for a DVC ressie using points, you can only purchase them at check-in, if you want to utilize the DVC discount. Also, if you can purchase UPH in advance, you have to purchase it for all the days on the reservation and can not drop days, as you wish to do. You're going to either have to wait until check-in to purchase the 5 day/4 night UPH and use the DVC member discount, or purchase a 5 day Park Hopper Plus pass before you leave.

You guys are SOO GREAT!!

You have cleared my cloudy goofy mind!!

I have so many lists going and so many days/nights/prices written down!

I appreciate all that you all have done to clear my mind!

I guess I will have to wait to get our tickets for when we arrive.

FWIW, you cannot purchase UPH tickets in advance for a points stay. Not allowed.

If you are paying cash and book through CRO (not MS), you are allowed to purchase in advance. However, as already posted, you will have to purchase for your entire stay - no dropping the arrival and/or departure stay.

Also, FWIW, I've never read any reports fromf a DVC member who was not allowed to drop the arrival/departure day at check in. The front desk CMs have more discretion than the CRO reps (who haven't any at all in this case, LOL).

Best wishes -

See, that's what I thought, but wasn't completely sure. Thanks for clearing that up!!!!

Personally (and this is JMHO), I would get a regular 5 day pass, not the UPH.

The first time I went to WDW for a 5 day trip, we did 3 straight days of parks. Fun, but exhausting. I was SO GLAD that I didn't have to get up and walk around a park for that 4th straight day.

You can also have an enjoyable half day minimum at Downtown Disney, no cost for admission. We did rent mouseboats there---that was something the whole family enjoyed.

This last trip in August, we only did 2 park days in 5 days of staying. One whole day was spent in the pool at VWL. One day at DD. Another whole rainy day with friends, playing games and watching movies in their 2 bedroom VWL (this is the whole reason we bought into DVC--that gorgeous room!).

Those 5 or 6 day Hopper passes are good forever. Think whether or not you want to add some down days to your trip. We always buy ours at AAA for a discount too--plus they give you a parking pass for parking up close.

Finally, the 2005 Unoffical Guide to Disney has a whole chapter on which pass might be best for you. May be worth the money for the book.

I called MS back and got an agent who was more informed on how the system works!

She went through and explained every scenario with me and was so nice :teeth:

I think that we are going to just go with the regular 5 day PH.

We are going to the MVMCP this year, and I don't think that we want to go to the park on that day. If we use a regular PH then we won't have to worry about "losing" that day. That was one thing that I was worried about with the LOS pass.

How much of a discount do you get if you purchase through AAA?

I can't see the value of a LOS pass in any case. You risk losing your money if the weather or anything unexpected cuts your day short. We will always opt of the 4-7 day park hopper, even over an annual pass for now, because the days never expire and we can do as much or as little as we want. Once we are retired, have lots of points and time, we'll go for the AP.

for the AAACarolinas, here are the prices: (including tax--be careful when you compare, because the prices listed at WDW direct do not usually include the tax, which adds 6.5% I believe)

4 day Hopper $209/169 adult/child

5 day Hopper $232/187

6 day Hopper plus 3 $290/233

I read on the budget board that not all AAA's charge the same price or have the same tickets for sale. However, apparently you can order them from out of state AAA offices and have them sent. Check the Budget board for more info.

BTW, I thought the extra $23. you spend for a 4 day hopper vs. a 5 day hopper is well worth it.
