All my exchanges through RCI are using RCI points and a unit is not listed, only size. Given that DVC doesn't communicate the unit specifics with RCI, it suspect it means little if anything. However, after a couple of days (usually on Mon/Tues), DVC will run a report and can then tell you what the DVC reservation # is and the view type once it comes across in your name. For example, I have 2 units for AKV for 2 Oct, both 1 BR. One is a Savannah View and the other a standard view both in Kidani. For example with BCV you should assume a 2 BR to be either a dedicated with the pull out queen in the second or the lockoff with a pull out full in the second. We have a confirmed exchange through RCI for BCV and my confirmation has some info I do not understand. Along with the dates and size of the villa, it says: UNIT: 14S. Does anyone know what that refers to? I hope some brilliant DISers experience DVC through RCI and explain it to the rest of us!
With DVC ownerships, you are legally deeded part of a "unit", but those units don't normally have an alpha letter following them. So I don't really have a clue what the RCI exchange unit numbers could be.

You call MS and go through the prompts for the World Passport. It's listed by name exactly as listed on the confirmation. Our exchange was confirmed early in March, so I should be able to call DVC (MS? or who?) and get a reservation #?
True but DVC has a policy of giving the same EXACT room type including view down to a Dedicated 2 BR if that's what was deposited. Certainly if there were non available, they would substituted.Remember that no matter what you are told about a room assignment (view, location, etc.), when you exchange through an external exchange company (II, RCI, a smaller competitor), the resort reserves the right to reassign you to another unit in the same resort with the same max occupancy and kitchen amenities.
So if you traded for a 2BR that sleeps 8 with a full kitchen, that's what they're to give you. If you learn that it's supposed to be in a particular location or view and the resort wants or needs to switch you (another guests' medical need, flooded room, etc.), they may.
Whatever code they gave is probably for their own resort to decipher later when making room assignments or doing their own internal bookkeeping or keeping track of what's been given to the exchange companies.

I assume they are at OKW. Call the number on the confirmation and make a "request for medical reasons". Reaffirm that request on check in and proceed to the room to double check when the room is ready. Don't arrive late at night.Speaking of exchanges into DVC...
My friend exchanged into a 2BR next month. They weren't aware of the lack of elevators there and her FIL has seriously bad knees. Who do they call about this kind of room request? DVC?
You cannot exchange back in to DVC through RCI using the DVC corporate membership. You could potentially exchange in if you were an RCI member independent of DVC.This thread is interesting to me, since I have a call into my guide to see if we are able to exchange our free RCI week that we recieved upon joining DVC last month for a DVC resort in Walt Disney World.
We had some confusion (on mine and my husbands part) when we signed our paperwork, and thought that our guide meant that we were able to book and stay elsewhere before Bay Lake Towers opened, so we had planned on using some airline credits that are set to expire in July and take a quick trip for the 4th. We planned on staying at any resort that had availability.
When I called DVC to make the reservation, I was told that we can't book until after August 4th when Bay Lake opens.
So I have a call into her and she is checking on if we are able to use the RCI week - I am not sure on any of the info on that as we don't have our certificate yet. We wouldn't be going for a full week, probably only 4 days. I just don't want to lose these airline tickets, as our credit is over 600.00, and after July 5th, they will be taking 50.00 per ticket (we have 4).
Thoughts?
