Snarky comment aside, as with many things in life, the learning curve various depending on circumstance and need.
Ours changed very soon after buying DVC which necessitated the crash course into areas I wouldn't have bothered with
otherwise, such as renting.

Now if I was going to be snarky, like you, I'd have said something like....you impress easily.

I truly wasn't trying to be snarky. You bought 300 Riviera points direct and several hundred in Grand Floridian, and you haven't been to WDW in 25 years by your own admission. Most of your comments are about how to craft a rental agreement, or renting x number of points, but somehow more points always pop up "if needed". I don't care that you've set yourself up a little rental business, but let's please not pretend we rent once in awhile when the class schedule doesn't work out for your wife. I think most people here will never find common ground if we aren't honest about our intentions.

Again, why would DVC go to all this trouble when they don’t need too?

They simply need to look at the membership and watch what is happening…and look for patterns that seem out of whack against what would be considered normal levels of renting?

Yes, I definitely agree that DVC will do this the simplest way they can, which would be automation.

They really have all they need to enforce whatever rules they decide fit the criteria they are supposed to create…patterns of renting that lead them to believe you are no longer renting within reason and have turned yourself into a business.

It’s one of the reasons the 2008 policy worked because it was simple to explain and enforce.

Strong possibility we’re all putting way more thought in this than the responsible people at DVC.

I do think a heavy crackdown of renting DVC points would increase availability for us owners.

As long as you don’t expect to see any of the hard to get rooms like value and resort view at BWV being more available then I guess you are right at least to some degree.
