DVC studios - fewer amenities

I just went to the DVC members site and was asked to register again, now I have not been on it since the beginning of the year, were things upgraded? wanted to check things out and to send a letter about my thoughts on all this stuff but it seems funny that I have to re-register....

any ideas?? :confused3

I apologize because I haven't had a chance to read the whole thread but....

STYRAFOAM???? Are they kidding me? In todays eco friendly we are trying to stop global warming, a company like Disney could really do such a thing. I am pretty appauled by that. We are new members so I don't know that I would recognize the differences other than that.

Just finished addressing my snail mail to Environmental Initiatives, Member Satisfaction, my DVC guide, Mr. Lewis, and Mr. Iger.

I checked the DVC Member site-my email is not affected or "tagged" in any way...at least not yet :thumbsup2

Would you be willing to PM the Enviromental Initiatives and menber satisfaction adresses?

Just check my Member profile online and it hasn't changed but it took FOREVER to load the page. Could be everyone checking slowing down the site or them working on the database?

About a month or so ago I noticed that my email address on my profile read mickeymouse@disney.com. I too thought it was odd since I had never given that as an email address. I changed the info to my real email address. It does say that an email address is required, and maybe since I never gave my original email they automatically just put the other one there? Anyway...has anyone heard anything from DVC other that the generic reply. I have already received two generic replies. It would be great if this was resolved before my DH and I go to BWV for a couples getaway in 2 1/2 weeks!

I know Sammie, but there is someone on these boards that keeps insisting that there never has been those items in a studio.

And more disturbingly, DVC is also insisting this (at least Larry is)-
Dear Dorothy, Thank you for contacting Member Services. The Coffee Cups in the Studios have always been Styrofoam Cups. The Drinking Glasses were made of glass and are being replaced with disposable drinking glasses. Sincerely, Larry Member Services | Online CommunicationsDisney Vacation Club

Poor Larry. I noticed he hasn't been answering any more e-mails with that grossly incorrect information. :sad2: I wonder if he still works for Member Services online communications? :rolleyes1

Good ole bi-polar Larry. In one of the other threads someone posted that Larry said the that glasses AND cups were being removed to make it consistant in the studios. Larry doesn't know whether he's coming or going. Doesn't Larry (and/or Disney) realize that the fibbing isn't helping the matter.

So I just got my MouseSavers newsletter and it has solved the mystery of the change! It all has to do with the new Innoventions exhibit in Epcot. :lmao:

New Innoventions Exhibit at Epcot Features Recycling

The Innoventions attraction at Epcot just got a bunch of trash -- literally. Waste Management, a provider of waste and environmental services in North America, unveiled its new sponsored exhibit, Don't Waste It! This 4,000-square-foot exhibit entertains and educates about the trash disposal process.

The new experience features interactive games that challenge guests to recycle, reduce and reuse "virtual trash" to create alternative forms of energy. Guests answer a series of lifestyle questions that determine their personal trash profile. The "virtual trash" then is loaded into a mini dump truck that is wheeled around to different gaming stations. Once the truck is docked into a game, the trash is disposed of and turned into new forms of energy.

I don’t know what to read into the fact that the satisfaction team has not responded in over a week.

Could it be they’re seeing the light ? ….

Or, has Disney’s customer service deteriorated to new levels?

Looks like it time for email number two; just in case they were hoping the outcry would go away.

Maybe like how the servers at V&As all use the same names, could there be a couple of dozen Larrys in Member Services?

I just got a canned response from Todd, but it was just the note that it was being passed to Member Satisfaction.

DH was in a Courtyard by Marriott for the week, the simple hotel room had a coffee machine, real mugs and styrofoam cups with lids for take out.

Apart from the lie about mugs "never having been" in the studio, I am very annoyed that MS has been ignoring members but chose to "announce" this on an UNOFFICIAL Disney site. The buck stops with Jim Lewis, and he should take responsibility for this fiasco. Our management team does not have our concerns at heart, worse, they are stonewalling over an issue that is important to us. I would be happy to know that the glasses and mugs can be requested and provided. Jim Lewis must think this will go away, and now the "ignoring" does become the larger issue, in my mind.

Same happened to me. I noticed the "mickeymouse" email addy awhile ago and changed it. It still had my correct email address on the site when I checked last night (after tigger said his/hers? said dvcmember) and that's why I thought it was a joke.

Count me in with those who have received no reply from their initial e-mail except for the canned response. It's been more than 5 days so I sent another e-mail this morning. Keep sending those e-mails.

I just got back from a couple of nights of travel. Stayed in a nice hotel (really rather expensive for a non-theme park hotel to me). I had real glass glasses in the bathroom and real ceramic mugs for coffee by the coffee maker. I thought the glasses looked a little dirty (saw a lip print on one), so I "used them" and left them turned up on the paper coaster. The next day after I got back to my room, I had "clean" glasses in my room. Only they now had towel lint on them. Think the housekeeper just wiped them off with the towel that I had used? ;)

I just got a call from a John at DVC to follow up on the email I sent.

He said that they had been tasked with following up and gathering additional feedback from members and wanted to know if there was anything else I wanted to add to my list of concerns. As my email was pretty extensive and detailed, there really wasn't much to add.

When done gathering feedback, they are going to report back to senior management at DVC about the members concerns, and while he could not give a timeframe or any promises of any changes, he did say that they had received a number of complaints and were taking the opinions of the members seriously.

The only comment I had to add was unrealated to this change, and that was to add my disapointment with the Disney Files as a replacement to the Vacation Magic magazine. He said that it was funny because he just got off the phone with another member who had expressed similar feelings - that the new magazine was more of a sales tool rather than the informative nature of the old Vacation Magic.

Overall it was a very pleasant conversation, thanks John if you are reading the DisBoards!

Great, the wheels could be turning! Thanks for the report!

No answer from the website so I wrote to member satisfaction.

Satisfaction Team,

I sent a message on the DVC web site that was never answered so I figured rather than just let this issue die, I'd continue to address it until I feel satisfied.

I joined DVC in '98. I do not like the current direction the DVC is headed. This latest change of disposable cups in the studios is just a prime example.

I was first informed of the changes to the studios by reading about them on a message board. It wasn't even an official press release. It seems that people staying at DVC resorts were having their mugs and glasses removed in the middle of their vacations and were sharing their experiences. I don't know if there is a word to describe this decision to not even wait until the rooms were vacated for the next guest, but classy (as in deluxe resort classy) wouldn't be one that immediately sprang to my mind.

This was not believed by everyone involved so calls were made. You may want to sit down for this one. People were being told that there were never any mugs or glasses in the DVC studios. Shocking, I know.

Here's my biggest problem so far with cup-gate. It seems there's this guy in MS who has told two different answers when asked by e-mail the same question. He has stated that there were never mugs in the studios. BTW , if you people are not sure on this one I have contacts on the net. I'm sure I can provide plenty of photos that mugs did in fact exist in the studios as recently as earlier this year.

He's also stated that the glassware is being removed to be consistent with the disposable dishes in the studios. Who has a problem with this consistency? I've never heard any owners complain about this issue. I've heard (and this is second hand I admit) that the plates, cups and Styrofoam cups don't match. How is this more consistent? I'd think at least you'd get a nice matching pattern.

Is there a third reason that I don't know about?

On one of the message boards I post there are a few polls running showing 70% to 75% member disapproval over the actions of DVC to pull the cups/mugs out of the studios. Does the member satisfaction team care? Seems like this one would be a no-brainer if they did. The members aren't all that concerned about their stuff matching in the room and want their mugs and glasses back by a huge margin. The members on this very active message board (where this will be posted shortly) also seem to have a bit of a problem with conflicting messages from the powers that be. I know we're strange that way.
