So the new Memory Maker package has a discount for advanced purchase. But how this this purchase work exactly? Especially for DVC where we don't have a "package".

right now, I have my DVC stay booked. Dining booked. Fastpass+ booked! park passes all registered on MDE. ( every on MDE I should say ).

If I log in now and buy MM, will it automatically go into my MDE? Or do I need some sort of voucher or card? Will they ship that to me or do I need to go pick it up?

We are currently 34 days out from our trip. Should I buy it now? Does it activate as of the day we arrive? I wouldn't want it to expire before we even get there or anything...

The advance purchase is just that- purchased in advance. You do not need to be onsite for it. You can buy it now and they will ship the little card to you or you can pick it up at will call. If you can get the card sent to you, I'd do that (but don't pay extra for that or anything). When you get there make sure the MM is linked to your MB and you should be OK. We had a cast member at a resort add the MM to my band when we arrived. If you don't get to it right away, that is fine, just grab the photo pass card from the photographer and then later add that card to your photo account.

MM is super glitchy, but the photos are SOOO worth it!

I have a question that I can't find the answer to. Can they link the MM to two magic bands? Some rides my husband will be on with my one son and then I will be going on with my other son as my daughter isn't quite tall enough for some rides. We want to be able to get all the ride photos.

Also, do you have to have a park ticket in MDE in order to buy MM? We won't be purchasing tickets as we have cast member passes so we can't do anything in advance and it can't yet be linked to the new system :-(

So we are staying DVC at AKL and have chosen our magic band colors, but are not doing a dining plan and will not have tickets linked. I'm just worried that they won't let us buy MM without park tickets.

Thanks!

Actually, this I DO have the answer to. I did a lot of reading, and contacted Guest Services about it ( There's a thread over on the theme park board that I started, and ended up answering myself ).

As long as you are all in My Disney Experience. ( If your kids don't have an account, that is fine, just make sure they are ENTERED in there and can be traced through there ) then all photos of your travel party will be included.

IN FACT, the answer I ended up getting is that as long as they are part of your "family and friends" on My Disney Experience AND have their settings to allow you to view and purchase photos ( that last setting is only if they have their own MDE account ) then you can view/download ALL those pictures.

For us, we are a big family group. One person is going to purchase MM, everyone else will allow that person to view/purchase their photos, which will allow us to get *everyone's* pictures. Disney confirmed this, doubly so because the first person told me Attraction pics would not be included, but then someone else responded to me saying that this was WRONG and actually applied only to the older FastPass+ and that the newer MM *would* include attraction photos for everyone.

Okay but what that whole "first 3 days" thing. If I purchase it but wait until "will call", won't I then only be registering at that time and lose the first three days? ( It said something about registering 3 days before or losingt he first three days or something ).

CONVERSELY, if I order it now, receive it, can I link it *right away* ? Or should I wait until I'm 3 days and link it then.

I bought MM about a week before we left and had it linked. I never needed a "card" everything went right onto the Magic Band which made it super easy. However do make sure all group members are resgistered on your MDE and that they HAVE ACCEPTED you to view your pictures!!! We couldn't figure out why some pix were not coming up, as sometimes my DH would scan the pix or my son or daughter...after much futzing around while down there I realized the problem.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me. So if my hubby has a MDE account, where do I link it on the MDE site? We picked the band colors but that is as far as we have gotten. We have been holding out hope that cast members would be able to link their passes to magic bands, but I don't see that happening in the next month. Oh well, just counting my blessings!

So if my hubby has a MDE account, where do I link it on the MDE site?

From the MDE website, click on 'Link Existing Reservations and Tickets'. Once the next page loads, select 'Memory Maker'.

There will also be an option to link 'Memory Maker' on the 'My Reservations' page.

Okay, so if you log in to MDE right now, do you see all your family members on your reservation? ( I assume so if you say you picked your colors? ).

If so, then on the Disney site, hover over ( don't click ) "My Disney Experience", a menu will pop down select "My Friends and Family". That will being up your friends and family as they currently show. If you don't see someone, you can click "Add a Guest" and add him. If you DO see him ( and I think you should if you are on the same reservation ) simply click on "Invite to Plan and Share" and enter the email address that he used to sign up for his Disney account. ( it HAS to be the same email if he has an account. If he doesn't have an account, he HAS to use the same email to create an account ).

If he has an account, tell him then to log in, hover over "My Disney Experience" and he should see a red notification. Click on that and go accept your request. ( Otherwise, create an account and accept after that ).

He will now be able to view / plan reservations with you. Then *HE* should go to his "My Family and Friends", click on "EDIT" next to your name, and make sure "Can view all activities" is select and the check box that says This friend can view and purchase my photopass photos is CHECKED.

If that's the case, you will then be able to see any pics he obtains. Same goes for anyone else in your party. For the kids, if they don't have an account, then whoever manages them ( which is likely you in this scenario ) controls who can see the pictures.

If you want to add your TICKETS, go under "My Disney Experience" -> "Magicbands and Cards". You'll see your selections you made for colors, and you should also be able to link any tickets you have purchased.

I know, because a lot of my group is not tech savvy, I have been tasked with managing all this ( we are 19 people. ) I have personally created 5 accounts myself and linked ALL 19 people to EACH of those accounts... yeah that took a while. Then I went through and did ALL the magicband customizations and ticket / reservation linking.

And this latest option, the photopass permission, i set for those 5 account, but then told everyone else ( as I'm trying to let go the reigns here and let people use this on their own cause I won't be there to hold their hand all the time in the parks :) ) to *make sure* that setting to allow us to share/purchase picture is set to TRUE. *very important*

Worst case scenario... Just get some regular photo pass cards and use those and the link them to your account at a PHotoPass kiosk.

We didn't get the physical card either yet were admonished that we "should" have. I will say every photo person had a different story which was/can be frustrating, so take it in stride. Some highly recommended doing MB and a back up PHotoPass card yet one severely lectured me (and yes... Lecture) not to do this as photos would be lost. I opted to ignore him since 1) his logic didn't make sense and 2) nearly every other PHotoPass person was either OK with scanning both or actively encouraged it!
