DVC stay and towels

I'm sure Disney gets it for free or if not almost nothing. They leave you one in the villas with the washer dryer but we use Gain so I didn't realize it was complimentary for more. Good to know!
It's not complimentary for more. See Pay as you Play above.

I do not believe this stuff is common knowledge for non owners at all. Maybe I live under a rock. It's always good to learn new things. I dislike being "that" type of person but untill today I had no idea about some of the things you have mentioned. When you rent points (going in Nov) non of this is shared.

You do nto live under a rock, and your experience is why I get nervous for people when the first suggestion I read onmany"How to reduce a Disney resort cost" is to rent points. As you are now learning, there are consequenses to this kind of stay, and some are pretty troublesome. The towel thing I could live with, but Boeing locked in to the dates and resorts? That can be probelmatic.

I don't think people are being disrespectful just not aware. Like I said most people who rent points are doing so from a 3rd party site and get the info posted above. No where does it have rules about where towels should and shouldn't be. So let's not just lump everyone who does out of character things at dvc into the "asshat" category. Alot of folks are renting due to rack rate being high. So that's alot of education for new folks.

There must be a reason why points rental can be less expensive than staying at that same deluxe resort, right? You give up something. I get a bit frustrated because lately the answer to reducing costs is often "rent points" and that is even when folks are costing out moderates for their stay. It is not the answer for a lot of people, and as you now know, the savings are not always worth the cost difference for some people.

A cash stay is much different than using DVC points, IMO. Personally, I would head over to the DVC forums and ask your questions there. I know you are genuinely seeking answers, and perhaps the posters there woudl look at your questions differently. You see, here on the resorts board, the DVC owners must try to answer your questions and are pretty defensive because they are paying for the resorts amenities. I stayed at OKW in December on cash. I was discussing the lack od a second coffee service at teh pool, and a nice man explained that the owners do not want to pay extra for that amenity. He took the time to share how their dues are used. I think you may be better served to have yoru conversation there so the owners can assist rather than defend.

Oh things were answered I'm just saying unless folks hound forums like this they wouldn't no such policy's effect owners so much. Also even within this thread there are conflicting reports with how cast members are handling such questions at the resort. I am seeing the defensive responses and notice they are aimed at the wrong people. Simply stating experiences does not make them the ones making cost go up it is Disney not following there own policy or simple not caring. They are who should be getting your anger.

I see it this way. Person rents dvc keeps it clean does what they do at parks and such walks up to front desk asks for a few new towels because yours are still wet. Desk gives you towels no issue . Now is that the fault of the renter ? No.. all the front desk has to do it say " we offer a towels package if you wish to have extra towels before your 4th day". So let's stop yelling at people about "I don't want to pay for your extras" hah it's laughable how wrong the hate is directed. 99% of people would understand and either pay or just wait.

Because the security check is only supposed to be trash pickup (in reality a check to make sure no funny stuff going on) and not replacement of towels or other amenities. That happens every four days.
I know this but the options are trash and towel for $10 or just towel for whatever was posted. Just think it's odd that trash is still something to pay for when it's forced on all of us.

DVC owners are paying for those daily room checks with their dues, not Disney. So you stay on points, you pay for those daily room checks. They just combine the three other room checks with the Trash & Towel Service when they still pick up the trash. There are times when they do not pick up the trash, but they do check the room. Like I said before, Disney doesn't pay for anything at a DVC resort. Where a hotel is combined with a DVC resort, everything that the DVC uses is paid for by members there on a percentage determined by Disney. The buses, the monorail, the boats, security, housekeeping, maintenance, front desk, utilities, etc.

If you are at a resort where there is both a DVC option and a hotel option, the people at the front desk don't know how you are staying unless they scan your magic band or you tell them you are staying on points. DVC needs to train their staff better, as does Disney. They are never consistent in what they say and do. At OKW and SSR, where there is no hotel option, the staff may not offer this information. And if they do, they should be educated quickly. I know when we stayed at OKW about a year ago, I called Housekeeping to get a towel pack and they told me that they were not free. I told them I was aware of that and they could charge my account for the towel pack which they did.

But now you have read the text from the DVC website that shows what you pay for and what you get for free. You get nothing for free unless you book a stay on cash through Disney and then you aren't getting it for free either. You are paying a rate with an upcharge to cover all those extras. If you happen to stay at Hilton Head Island or Vero Beach, you won't find bins of clean towels at the pool. You are assigned one beach towel per bed in your villa and they are placed in your room. I think you can swap them out for clean ones, but it's a one for one swap.

I had this same concern when we went last year but what I did was buy 4 plain old white towels from Target and brought them with me in case we needed them. We ended up being just fine reusing towels (even though I never do this at home) and didn't even need to use the towels I bought. They were cheap so I figured if we used them I would have just put them in the pile of dirty towels with the rest and just cut my losses.

I had read someone else bring along extra white towels from home, the only problem was housekeeping came in and just gathered ALL the towels. Didn't notice the difference of towel or number and just left the standard amount. This person had said in the future she would buy a different color towel if she decides to bring extra towels along again. So she started out with lots of towels, but ended the trip with just the standard amount.

Yes I am, I am simply pointing out what actually happened.

First off the policy has always been you can request fresh towels and laundry soap for free at the front desk. The same goes for asking housekeeping if you see them, the point behind charging is they are trying to avoid extra labor of sending someone on a special trip to your room for it.

As for dues going up, they will go up either way, so you might as well get as much value out of it as you can.

You are asking for towels and soap at front desk,...are you saying they have the items right there?
