DVC slide for MB

I just got back from AKV we had bands from previous trip and did not have the sliders. I asked at the front desk and they had them. They look good but serve no purpose other then bling. I wish it could be used for discount

Not going to happen. If the DVC Slider was officially accepted as proof of discount, what's to prevent someone from giving (or selling) their slider to a non member and that individual receives discounts they are not entitled to. That kind of abuse would only lead to discounts being taken away.

Yeah I just got 7 for an upcoming trip and the kids don't even know they exist. I could put them on eBay if they were good for that.

MB's have made certain things more difficult like discounts because paper tickets and room keys indicated I was an AP holder or DVC member staying on points just by flashing them at checkout even if paying cash. The AP MBs still came with a card to use for discounts negates the whole purpose if I still have to carry a card and I still have to carry a TIW card.

I'm leaving tonight for 4 days OKW. My MB came without a DVC slider,and I have an AP I just bought with the DVC discount. That slider wasn't included either.

I am hoping that the MB for my DVC stay in October will include them!

Received MB with DVC sliders on Wednesday. Our trip is in June, AK Kidani.

I agree the sliders won't ever work, I'm now the proud owner of 8 DVC sliders for our family of 4... It would be easy enough to sell them on eBay.

The AP sliders come with the AP band which you can't get until you have the actual AP, not just the voucher.

I don't believe that discounts will ever be automatic. I think they will always require you to show proof of discount (AP Card/AP Discount Card/DVC Member Card/TiW Card/etc.) and a Photo ID to receive any available discount.

Finally this morning they had the slider at the bcv. The cm said they would run out because everyone stopped by to pick one up. We stopped by Bwv last night and they said they were gone. The cm suggested you write ms to get them but ms said to ask at the desk.

But they want you to have to KNOW about the discount and ASK for it. There are a lot of people who qualify but either don't know or don't remember about the discount. If they started automatically giving it to everyone who qualifies, they'll lose a good amount of revenue.

Nothing is stored on the MagicBands except for a unique ID number. All data is stored in a MDE Profile and the MagicBand is just a key to reading that data.

I'm an associate member and not entitled to member benefits, yet my MDE profile has the DVC Member affiliation. If member discounts were automatic based on MDE profile, I would receive a discount I'm not entitled to. And nothing is to prevent someone from handing their MagicBand to a non-member friend for them to get discounts.

Also, Disney's POS (Point of Sale) system does not have access to your MDE profile, so the register doesn't know if you are entitled to a discount unless the CM manually applies it. No one even knows if the POS system that Disney uses can be upgraded to access the data stored on your MDE profile.

Yeah I'd love to see my TIW card added to it too so I could get rid of the last paper card I have to carry but don't think that will happen
