I was just wondering how many DVC folk use the Disney
Shopping service for food? How much pricier is it then the other shopping
Services out there. We usually rent a car but I thought it would be nice to have a few things there when we arrive.

Thanks Dave

It's pretty pricey. I have used, quite happily, wegoshop.com. You give them a list of the things you want..brand, size etc. They can deliver fresh foods, frozen, dairy, meats anything you would normally buy. They keep the perishables in a special temp controlled bag. You can give them a time you want things delivered. We usually ask for about 5ish so we can be sure of being in our villa. THere is a $15 delivery fee for orders $100 and under.

wegoshop is great. We used them for our trip last week. Just make sure you place your order as soon as possible. I waited too long and they were all booked up for Sunday and Monday. The earliest they had available was 9am on Tuesday. Weekends are their busies time, even during the slow season.

We took a look on it onlin(DVC) and the prices are really bad. Like you might as well just buy Disney food and eat it for that price. (a buck a banana. )

Thanks for he wegoshop link, I will look into it. We are trying to decied between town car (Quick Sliver with grocery stop) rental car or just the free DME. We are staying at SSR so we even considered walkng to goodings. Does anyone know how this works out?

I would guess that it is seldom used, given how many good alternatives there are. You can buy a banana in the parks for $1.

Loved using wegoshop.com. Very convenient. The last place I want to be while on vacation is a supermarket, even for 10 minutes!

we are big fans of this service :cool1:

used them in July and everything that should have been cold was very cold :Pinkbounc

So I am guessing the prices are pretty good, the same as if you shopped their yourself, but with a 15 to 17$ charge extra for the service.

This might work for us. My only problem is DD has food allergies so I need to be very careful about what we buy. If I am brand speffic I think it could work for us.

The big things we would want would be case of pop, water, snack foods, some breakfest food etc...

If I wasn't sure I could get it there I think I would try to bring it from home (some specailty foods because of her allergies.)

they will be brand specific if you want

you can even choose the store(s) that you want to be used for your purchases and tell them about ads etc. to be used for your grocery list

we did not choose a grocery store and I think that they used Wal mart

The only things that we need to buy once we get to WDW is milk, so I might just buy it at the hotel.

BTW...how large is the fridge in the studios? Is it big enough to hold 2 1-gallon containers of milk or should we just buy the half-gallons?

TIA
Jody

I looked briefly at the wegoshop.com website. How do you know if what they are charging you for your groceries is the right price or a good price? Do you get the original store reciept when your groceries are delivered?

Thanks!

Yes, you get the origional receipt. At least you get to look at it and compare the list to what you have received but I cannot remember if you get to keep it or if they need it for their records. I think that they said that they would give me a copy of the receipt but I cannot remember for sure.

They are wonderful people and I have NO reservations suggesting that you use their service.

Another site for grocerys is
www.gardengrocer.com

Just looked at their sight and I will try them next time. We had some problems with wegoshop in May and I would like an alternative to using them again. I like the way you can order food from gardengrocer and it shows you all the prices and delivery fees. Should make ordering more simple than wegoshop.

Thanks for the link!

Does anyone know if gardengrocer.com keeps your perishable food cold in coolers like wegoshop.com?

They're pricing on most things seem to be pretty reasonable and their delivery fee is less than wegoshop.com so we are considering using them, but we won't be arriving at our resort until after 9pm and are worried about perishables staying cold.

Thanks!

I would contact them directly! Then share with the rest of us! ;)

I too looked at the grocery prices from DVC and it was a bit much. I mean a buck for one piece of fruit. Heck I could bring my own bag of apples for about that much. Plus a half gallon of milk is what, 2.35??

How does wegoshop charge you? Is it CC before the items bought, just after, pay cash once you get there?

Also how does the gardengrocer do this as well?

I've just looked at gardengrocer.com and their prices on most items seem to be pretty reasonable and their delivery fee is less expensive than wegoshop.com. Does anyone know if they package the perishables in coolers like wegoshop does?

Thanks again!

If they deliver to your door they have coolers. If your not there they can leave it with the Bell Service desk in the coolly bags:cold: and the Service desk will put it in the fridge area for you.
