My info packet I requested still hasn't come yet...
I'm a little impatient! LOL ;)
This process seems slow... (Please come tomorrow!!!)
Wondered how many actually did everything by mail and how long it all took?
My hubby wants to read over everything, but I think I might have him. (Fingers crossed...)
Realistically here...
We should still be fine to get BCV before it sells out?
What about that darn projected price increase per point I'm reading about on here?
At this point, we won't get a December use year doing everything by mail?
Anyone bought without doing the tour?
(We'll be in the world next month, but I really would want a December use year over a February use year.)
What all does that info packet I keep running to the mailbox for have in it?
I hope it isn't as vague as the video! :p

Just impatient!!!

We did everything by mail for the fisrt OKW ourchase in 1994 after we returned from the tour. It was very easy to do and the video was easy to follow. We did resale for HHI add-on in october thru timesharesbyreasle.com and Shontell. This was also all done by mail and no problem. We have February use years for both and it has never been a problem. It does not affect your 11 month home resort or 7 month other dvc window for ressies. It only matters if you need to bank or borrow points. If you are worried about increase in points price, maybe resale would be better for you. Unless you are set on BCV. Good luck

Back in '99, my DW and I took the tour and decided against it... We then got home, and called our guide, and requested the info packet via FedEx... Whole process took 3-4 weeks or so...

We also just did our 2nd Add on for VB recently... Again worked via FedEx... Took about 3-4 weeks again...

(The longest part was coordinating the time for my DW and I to go to the notary.)

We should still be fine to get BCV before it sells out?
I'd imagine so... I think that DVC works off of what was available at the time you make the request, and not the time they actually receive the paperwork... ( I was worried about this with my recent VB add-on since VB is ready to sell out, and my guide assured me that we'd be ok..)

What about that darn projected price increase per point I'm reading about on here?
Again... The price per point is put into the paperwork at the time it is drawn up... So it is based off the price at the time you call, and not the price at the time they receive the paperwork back.

At this point, we won't get a December use year doing everything by mail?
The only thing that would affect this is if BCV was sold old in the December UY at the time you made the call... If this was the case at the time you made the call the call though, I'm sure your guide would have told you. (The UY you end up with has nothing to do with when the paperwork is submitted...)

Anyone bought without doing the tour?
I took the tour first... But I have referred people who have bought sight unseen and were very happy.

What all does that info packet I keep running to the mailbox for have in it?
Now by "info packet" I assume you mean the DVC Member Document Kit that they send when you are ready to sign up?? The packet has all of the Finance paperwork.. Membership agreements... Truth in Lending Agreement... Breakdown of the costs, dues, etc.. etc.. etc...

Hope this helps and good luck!:)

Actually you could say that DH did. I went on the tour when I was on a solo trip to WDW. I brought all the stuff back for DH to look over and from there we did everything by phone. I think the whole process (from applying for the mortgage loan all the way until we closed) took about a month. I remember our guide calling us on Valentine's Day to say that we'd closed.

We did it all by mail because we didn't purchase until four months after visiting the DVC at Boardwalk last October. The paperwork comes via FedEx, you sign by the Mouse ears and date by the Palms where required except for the page that needs notarized. We used Mail Boxes Etc. to notarize, and then it all goes into the prepaid FedEx envelope back to Disney from there. It's painless until the first payment. ;)
Well, knowing how much we enjoy Disney makes it all painless! We signed our paperwork today for an add on, and will have it notarized and shipped in the morning.

Bought BCV direct from Disney and resale from OKW without tour and all by mail. Both closed very quickly. Byron Helgeson at Disney and Pat Spell at the Timeshare Store were both great to work with.

Took tour to meet Byron and purchased add-on.

Recieved video and brochure. After a couple weeks of thinking, asking questions via the telephone and reading everything on the web we were fairly sure we wanted to buy. (we really would have liked more written detailed info from Disney!! Do they think we can only look at videos and pretty pictures??)

Called our Guide to tell him our intentions. He asked our decisions about MB's and financing. He also took down a credit card deposit. (I didn't relize he would need this!) The member packet was at our house in less than a week. It included the purchace documents (with return fedex enveolope) and a more detailed member handbook that I would have liked beforehand! Also included a matted picture of BVC, a DVC backpack and a stack of legal papers. We sat down one night and signed away and sent it out the next!! Easy!!! We did not need to notarize it!?! Perhaps because we did not finance.

It has not closed yet (perhaps next week), but were given an account number and allow to make reservations. Most importantly we are in the system.

Everything went very quickly for us, but we were very quick gathering information and making our decision.

Good Luck
Lisa

The only page that has to be notarized is for those financing, which I know because I got my paperwork via Fed Ex today!

I requested the video from the website about two weeks ago. As soon as I received it, I called to get more information. My guide (Byron Helgeson, same as the person above) then sent me the more detailed brochure about a week ago. I assume this is what you currently have. I called back and told him we wanted to go for it, and put down part of my deposit (I just put down an even $500 over the phone), and my package was prepared and shipped to me. I put down the deposit last Friday, and received my package today. My documents show an estimated closing date of May 21, if that gives you any idea of the time line. Payments will start on June 15.

The informational package I received after calling the 800 number contained a video, 64 page glossy color booklet, a 4 page insert for the BCV's, and an 8 page insert for member getaways, a flyer referring to MB and a sheet with financing break downs. The 64 page brochure did contain a good overview. It had talked about the point systems, a map to the resort, the point charts for the resorts and floorplans for the room configurations. It had lots of nice pictures. It is a nice overview.

I just wanted to know ALL the nitty gritty before I put my money down. I didn't like seeing "some restrictions apply". For example they did not go over banking and borrowing details. I got those details, and more, before putting down the deposit, it just would have been easier if it was given to me in writing from Disney. Our guide answered all my questions fully and gave complete information. He made us feel comforable that if we did not like what we saw in the contracts/hanbook we could get our deposit back and cancel - no problem. Actually, I was suprised there were not many "restrictions or other twists and hoops". It seemed to be as advertised!

Cheers,
Lisa

Lisa, I think thsi is what I'll probbaly be getting. I ordered the video online and finally called a guide that was recommnend to me from these boards. I asked for an informational packet to convince my hubby and was told it woudl ahve the financing breakdowns in it. I'm hoping we'll recieve thsi soon cause I want to call with that depost soon to get that December use year still and to be able to book for the eleventh month window for next spring break, which will be very soon, before a closing date I'm sure.

I'm correct in that once we place the deposit over the phone of $500 we can start making the ressies even before the closing date? Or do we have to wait to be approved first for finanncing and if so how long does that take?

I woudl have already gone through with it, but hubby wants more to look at than the glorified video.
Thanks!
