Anyone have info on this up coming Safari? We are in process to maybe (likely) join the DVC, and go in September. If we do, I want to check this out. Says its from 9:30 PM to Midnight at AK. Reading about the last DVC event at MK like this, they let you in at 7:00 PM even though festivities don't start to 9:30pm. Anyone do the MK event? Is it just you get the park with only DVC members around? Most of the best attractions are open, but not all of them? Any food/drinks events or special type of activities? Any though in the nighttime show would go on that night, either the JB show or ROL if open by then?

I attended one of the MK events. They had most (maybe all) attractions in 2 lands open - Tomorrowland and Fantasyland plus HM. They also had character meet and greets. There was lemonade and water, chips, cookies and ice cream bars. It was open to DVC members and their guests, which were limited in number. What did it mean? Rides still had a wait but it was a fun, festive atmosphere. It had similarities to the paid holiday parties although not themed that way, nor any parade. They did have fireworks though so they might have the new AK nighttime show. I don't know if any detailed specifics have been announced for the AK event. I'm doubtful that any regular shows would be part of the event.

Well, that would be a bummer. We are going five nights and f ROL is open (not holding my breath) I'd need to see that. Which would mean I'd have to go twice to AK.

I'd think they will let member into the park earlier than the start of the party so it's likely that the AK night show could be watched then. Which one that will be is anyone's guess at this point though.

Just to clarify - when I said I doubted there would be any shows I was referring to FOTLK, Nemo, FOW.

The only thing I know about the DVC Safari Spectacular is that the 1st one is scheduled for Sept 6 and we can start booking on July 6. I know there are other dates but the first one (Sept 6) is DHs birthday and we already had BLT booked so for once my timing doesn't stink.

Ahh, that would be nice. Just hoping to be able to only do the Spactacular, enter at 7:00 PM, catch the ROL or JB night time show and new night time stuff at AK. We were just there a few weeks ago, but missed all the night stuff and this would fill that desire. I'd watch Lion King again, probably not Nemo or the other shows so soon.

OP not sure if you plan to purchase direct from Disney or resale but as of April 4th 2016 new resale buyers are not eligible to receive any "membership extras" like this event. Guessing you probably already know this from researching DVC but just wanted to point it out in case somehow you hadn't seen that.

Unfortunately this is true....plus these special events must be reserved in advance.

The only way this could be achieved would be if you are already a DVC member or to buy a small contract direct before they start booking the events.

We are in process to buy at Poly direct 60 points right now. Bookings start June 6th. So, hopefully we would get a reservation for it. I'm told it only takes a couple days to close on a direct purchase. Are main reason to buy direct is we really want to be able to get Poly most of the time, occasionally BCV, AKV, VWL etc, but mostly Poly. The few extra benefits, like this event, pushed us over the edge to pay the extra cost for direct too.

Is it correct that regular guests have to leave the park by 9:30pm during these events, and thus the only ones in the park (well at least able to get on rides) will be DVC members? I assume they would check at ride entrances similar to EMH checks.

Those not attending the special event will need to leave by regular park closing time. CMs will check for special wristbands when trying to enter dining locations, attractions, etc.
