After our recent stay at SSR, where we were inside one day due to weather, I have a whole new appreciation for Community Hall! :-) But our villa couldn't have been further away - so we still got pretty soaked getting to and from. But it got me thinking:

Do ALL DVC resorts have community halls? If so, which DVC resorts can you access the community halls via inside walkways? (Obviously I know that SSR and OKW won't apply here - as they are ALL outside buildings.)

We've never used a kids' club, and I know that not all resorts have them. Anyone know off the top of their heads?

Just thinking about "inside" activity days - not that there are many of those at Disney! :-) Thanks, guys!

BLT's Community Hall is inside the Tower; Kidani Village's is also in the same building as the villas...there's a kids' club at Jambo that's also inside...BWV's community hall is a separate building by the quiet pool, no access w/out going outside...BCV doesn't have a community hall, but there is a kids' club at BCI, which BCV guests can get too by walking under cover (albeit outside) into BCI...don't know about Wilderness Lodge...

Hope this helps...

vwl and bcv don't have a commuity (activity) center/hall. they do have kids club

blt is inside.

bwv is outside - but really, really close - it is near the community (quiet) pool.

AKL has the kids club
AKV has the community hall.

Thanks for the great info - exactly what I was looking for.

Which leads me to another question: What is the difference between a kids' club and community hall? Perhaps that is a whole other thread . . . :-)

A kids club is a childcare for fee service - they are set up like a daycare of sorts. They are not open for free use like community hall. BCV and WLV have no community hall on property.

There is a van that shuttles back and forth between AK Jambo and Kidani, so if you were at Jambo and wanted to use community hall without getting wet, you could take the van.

Kid's club is a paid service where you can drop age 4+ kids off for a few hours. Community Hall is a "free" area with games, crafts, etc.

Plus the kids' clubs are usually only open in the evening, not during daytime hours. So they are more of an evening baby sitting service for kids 4-12.

OT, but I wish there was a tweens club in addition to the kids club. We have a 13yo and a 4yo. If we wanted an evening out we are out of luck because of our DD13. We are just ready to leave her unattended yet. Dont get me wrong she is responsible, etc., but I would be very worried.

If I am not mistaken, doesnt VB have something like that as well?

Is this different from the regular bus transportation between the two?

Yes, it was like a 15-passenger van - rather than waiting at the bus stop, the pick-up spot was outside the lobby doors. Maybe they don't do this all the time, but they definitely were offering it when I was there in March.

Kids Clubs usually have open play hours for a few hours in the afternoons (children must be with an adult). I know we've used the one at WL/VWL (and the Poly but that's non-DVC).

Are the community halls only for DVC member or for anyone staying on the property? We have considering staying at BLT before we decide on becoming DVC members and I was curious if we would be able to use the community hall.

If you want a good baby-sitting service for a night out you can try Kids Night Out. We used it a few years ago for a night out. They charge a per hour rate, and it would work great if you have an older child to "help out", so they don't have to feel like they are being baby sat. I am pretty anal about anybody watching my daughter and the person that came was great. She called ahead to find out what the kids were interested in. (4 kids including my niece and nephews.) They took a quick medical history, likes/dislikes, brought plenty of activities for them, (2 suitcases worth), and even took them for ice cream. The kids ages were 9, 8, and 2 18 month olds. I would definitely use them again.

DD loves the community halls. She was upset last November because we switched from Kidani to VWL because of the lack of community hall.

We decided to split stay next trip so we could enjoy SAB and the community hall at BWV.
