DVC resorts that don't interest you at all?

I know everyone has different tastes and likes certain DVC resorts more than others. I was just wondering if anyone else has absolutely no interest in a certain DVC resort. For instance, does anyone have no desire to stay at, say OKW, that's our favorite? I don't want this to degenerate in to a "my resort is better than yours"-I'm just curious at how diverse people's tastes are. This came out of the realization that SSRR holds absolutely no appeal to me. I can't see why anyone would want to go there. But then I realized that others probably feel that same way about certain resorts that I just love. So tell me, what resorts are some of you cold about while others may love?

O.K. I'll take the first bite, and say that OKW is the one resort that I have no desire to stay it!!! I like the resort feel of VWL, the only DVC resort I"ve stayed at, and BCV definately appeals to me. I'd stay at BWV, but only if VWL and BCV weren't available. Now, would I pass up OKW if it was the only resort available. Yes, I would. I'd either pay cash, or move my dates. I just don't like the whole "condo" feel of the place. Some people love that, me I like the resorty feel of the others.

I have no interest in HH. I'm sure living close enough to throw a rock and hit the island has a lot to do with it but there is nothing that I've read to interest me in going there not to mention it's offsite. The beaches here are nothing like the ones in Fl so I definitely wouldn't compare it to VB, which I would like to go visit one year. While I think we have some of the most beautiful islands in our area that exist, I'm just not crazy about what they've allowed to happen at HH. I would think it would cost me a lot more to have a good time at HH than onsite or even VB.

Florida is my first choice for vacations So, I'm lucky that I love all the choices! VWL holds the least interest for me. I don't care to stay at WL either. However, I'm willing to give it a try at least once.

HHI is somewhere I want to try also. I may find I've been missing out on something very special. :)

I've never met (or even read about) a DVC resort I didn't like!

We hope to try them all over time, but for now we are enjoying our home resorts, VWL and BCV. They are our favorites, and that is good, since I hear you should own where you want to stay! ;)

We will be trying Vero Beach this year, and we can't wait to give it a shot! I really believe each resort has something different and special.

I own points at OKW, BWV, HH, and VB, but I have stayed at all six. I wouldn't turn down a stay at any of them, but OKW remains my favorite onsite resort. I really don't *dislike* any of them, and I am looking forward to trying Saratoga Springs.

Well, I am going to the surprising thing and say BCV! We visited the BCV last month to see what we thought about maybe making a ressie there next year. We decided it was not for us. It is no different than any other hotel, and didn't feel special enough. We loved the decor at VWL, and think BWV would be all right too, but BCV left me cold! I doubt I will ever stay there, but you never know!

Number one goal is to stay in Disney. We own at OKW an loved it (remember it's best to own where you love). We've stayed at VWL during Thanksgiving and absolutly loved it too, the warm holiday feeling left goose bumps. We've also stayed at the BCV and found the closeness to Epcot a very good plus. Never had a chance to try BWV but BCV & BWV are very similar to me. We've never been to VB or HH but will be trying VB in 2006 (DD graduation with friends). When SSR comes on board I think we might try it, we like being close to DtD.

Interesting thread. I do find it interesting that some have said they wouldn't stay at a certain resort even having never stayed there yet at all.

We've been to all of them, and while I like some better than others, there isn't a single one that I wouldn't enjoy going back to again.

So I'd ask the question maybe another way. Of all the resorts you've stayed at, is there any that you'll never go back to again? Any that fit the "Been there, done that, don't need to go back again" description?

Well, I haven't actually stayed at any of them except OKW...but I have visited all but HH. I thought VB was beautiful, and would really enjoy staying there sometime. I thnk my least favorites would be BCV and BWV - they're pretty and everything...just too "busy"...and I'm not big on water theming like SAB...I like the quieter feel of OKW. Funny how the "in the middle of everything" locations of BCV and BWV makes them the favorite of so many people.

I'm not big on the idea of BCV. (No, I haven't stayed there). We own at BWV so wouldn't need BCV for proximity to Epcot, I'm not big on swimming, so SAB doesn't hold any special appeal, and DS is 20 years old, so he likes Boardwalk's pool and facilities.

We're very fond of OKW (space and peace and quiet appeal there), VB was great and I'm dying to try out WLV for the ambience, but BCV is no big deal to me.

Now if there was no room at BWV, I would stay at BCV, but it would probably come in after OKW as a choice.

We stayed at VB and enjoyed it, but we probably won't stay there again. It's a very beautiful resort, don't get me wrong. But if I want to take a beach vacation in Florida, there's many better beaches in better areas of Florida. I'd much rather stay in Sanibel or Captiva for a beach vacation, to name two.

But let me say it again: VB is a beautiful resort.

Our favorite is OKW, one of our two home resorts. We just love the "at home" feeling there, how it really does transport you away from all the chaos at the parks etc.

We've tried them all except VWL. Although WL is one of our favorite spots to visit and have dinner (artist pointe) we've never had a desire to stay here. We toured the rooms, and found the decor to be on the dark side for our tastes. The lodge is beautiful, and is so inviting during the holidays. Maybe someday...

We recently stayed at BCV..it was nice, but didn't interest us enough to want to try and come back again. We like the BWV (our other home resort) because it is closer to the flying fish, our favorite dining spot. SAB is not a draw for us, we like the quite pools and avoid the feature/theme pools.

Every DVC resort we have stayed at has been great. But, you're right, some appeal more to us than others, so we will keep going back to the places we love the most for our type of vacation habits. I think it's great DVC has so many options to choose from, I only wish that they would adopt some different floor plans. with BWV, BCV and VLW basically all the same layout...I hope they do something a little different with the next resort. Variety is the spice of life!!

We have been to OKW,VB and HH.We also stopped in at the BCV's after they opened and viewed the models. We eventually would like to try them all at least once.
Our favorite so far is OKW.We could go down there and not even go in the parks(which we have done). It is just relaxing to be there, and thats what we plan on doing a lot for the winter months(Jan-Feb) after we retire.
Every trip down we always take a ride over to the Wilderness Lodge. The lobby is "breathtaking" .
We also drive over to the Boardwalk on every trip, and walk around.
VB is a non-commando type trip where you can really "relax" and not even leave the resort if you don't want to.VB's pool is one of DVC best(next to SAB).
HH is nice if you drive down from the north and don't want to fly all the way to Florida.Plenty of golf courses and restraunts.
So as you can see,I wouldn't "turn down" any of them. That is why we joined DVC, for the flexabilty of a 1st class timeshare.

Heck, I can't think of a reason WHY I wouldn't want to stay at one of the resorts, but if I had to pick one (or two), it would have to be VB or HH, just because they are not on Disney Property.

Gotta be near the parks!

VB or HH. Being a melanoma cancer survivor, beach resorts do not interest me. Even at WDW, I avoid the pools till evening.

Off site doen't appeal to me. When I go on vacation, I want WDW or a casino.

I guess the least desirable to me in WDW is VWL. I am also from the northeast, lived in the woods and don't really see anything special there.

We have stayed at BWV a couple times and for a quick trip, BWV and BCV will be choices again.

Can anyone guess my favorite?:smooth:

We've stayed at OKW 1 and 2 bedroom and WLV 1 bedroom and very much prefer OKW rooms. They are more spacious and brighter than the WLV rooms and I think the overall feel of the place is very laid-back and relaxing. I do love the atmosphere of the WL and the entire resort area, but it's just a little to busy after a crazy day at the park. I'd really like the new villas at Sarasota Springs to be set up like the OKW!!

Thanks-every one's comments have been so interesting. I especially loved to hear about BCV. First, I don't swim so SAB held no appeal to me. However, I loved BCV-reminded me of Cape Cod, which I miss terribly.
BTW, unfortunately Sarasota is not going to be set up like OKW, according to our guide, no at door parking and condo-type units.

I have to agree with CASKBILL's perspective - which resort WOULD'T you go back to. I would have said OKW held the least interest for me but we were fortunate enough to make four trips last year - one at each resort. The OKW trip was on very short notice and it was the only resort available. Guess what - I would stay at any of them in an instant. They all have appealing features and I am glad to have the flexibility to choose.
