Do any of you know which resorts you can still purchase directly through Disney? This whole resale idea sounded great but the ROFR wait is horrific. I'm having all kinds of anxiety about it. Just wondering about what IS still available through Disney, other then the new one.

Shelby

Disney is currently only selling SSR as far as I'm aware to new members. They will sell sold out resorts to current members as add-on contracts (there are members on waiting lists and as Disney retrieves contracts from re-sales where they exercise their ROFR these are re-sold to the members on the lists). You may be able to wrangle a sold out DVC resort directly through Disney but not sure how likely it will or will not be that they will indeed do that. May involve some sort of a wait being that there are members already on waiting lists.

ROFR is an anxiety trip I'd think but in the end, it should be worth it between getting a contract for less $$ per point and at the DVC resort of your choice rather than only at the current DVC resort being sold. Currently I think Disney is selling at $95.00 per point . The advantages to buying direct of course are no waiting through ROFR and Disney will also finance you but re-sale is often a much better deal if you can get through the ROFR process.

Best of luck!

You could probably do some arm-twisting and get DVC to sell you points at OKW, HHI or VB. They currently have a surplus of contracts at those resorts that were picked-up via ROFR. But even DVC's cupboards are bare when it comes to BCV, BWV and VWL.

If you do want OKW, HHI or VB, you'll pay a flat $89 per point which includes closing costs, fees, etc. No promotional discounts. 150-pt minimum purchase.

But, if you go the resale route on these properties, you can probably keep the cost under $80 per point: $72-73 tops for the points, $4 for '05 maintenance and $2-4 per point for closing costs.

On just a 150-pt contract, you could save upward of $1500 if you can afford to go the resale route.

This does no good now, but our guide knew that we were torn between buying SSR & BWV (resale). We had very personal reasons for wanting BWV & we made that very clear....So, during our contemplation, she called us one evening (last Thursday) & let us thow that they had 575 BWV points available with a Dec UY and if we wanted them, we just needed to put down the $500 to hold the 150 that we wanted.

We finally decided that we wanted SSR, because of the $10 promo & the extra 12 years. When I called her to buy SSR on Tuesday, all of the BWV points were gone.

So, if you have a particular resort that you'd like, let your guide know.

Last August my guide was able to find 150 BWV points for my sister to buy in. My sister wanted either BWV or BCV but wanted to be able to finance through disney. You never know - call and tell them you are interested in different resorts.

I was able to get BWV points through Disney in November. I called on the right day, and the right guide picked up the phone for me. I did have to put down a $500 refundable deposit to hold the points that day, and had plenty of time to make the decison. My guide told me that you can go on a waitlist to get points at the sold out resorts.

I paid $89 per point. To me, it was worth the extra money not to have to deal with ROFR.

Funny, how a few months and 1 more trip to WDW made all the difference for me. Going through ROFR is the pits! Still going it through it! :charac2: :teleport:
