OK I've seen a few mentions about slow times at the parks being busy times at DVC. When are considered slow times at DVC? We are using it for the first time over thanksgiving and had no problem booking our home resort. However we are moving to FL and will be able to get to Orlando more frequently. It would be helpful to know the patterns.
I imagine that due to school we will mostly be forced to travel at peak times but you never know

I think August & September are slow for DVC. I've not had a problem booking what I wanted in May.

October to December is busy, as well as January around the marathon.

Disney's goal is to maintain 98% DVC occupancy. Rooms not booked by members are given to Disney for cash Guests. During the year Disney creates or supports events to increase attendance. Gay Days, Star Wars, New Jersey Days, marathons, F&W, F&G, Pop Warner and the ever extending Halloween and Christmas hard ticket events, just to name a few.

What may still be considered a slow time now, may not be so slow in the future.

January is the month I have found the most choice for a short notice trip (but we don't travel over weekends due to work and when I am calling for short notice I just ask for 2-3 consecutive nights in a studio anywhere and last year I had 3-4 choices for the month.

I agree. If they expanded F&W to include Sept., the lower points would make it a lot harder to get.

For DVC the issue is really when do you have the higher probability of getting resorts other than your home at 7 months out. You have lower probability of that many times of year for certain categories of rooms -- AKV cincierge and value, BLT's MK and standard views, standard and boardwalk view at BWV, SSR Treehouse Villas. Also, VWL and BCV as smaller resorts can be difficult more often than others.

There are actually few to no times where nothing will be available 7 months out. You can usually find something at SSR and often at OKW or AKV essentially any time of year with some risk of not doing so Christmas week.

As to getting others -- VWL, BCV, BWV preferred pool/garden view, and BLT lake view, you will find the most competition at 7 months out during holiday times, all of Dec, most of Oct during Food and Wine festival and most spring break weeks. That does not mean you cannot get them just that odds are lower, particularly for those smaller resorts, BCV and VWL. You will likely find it somewhat easier to get any of those much of Jan to early Feb, May other than Memorial Day time, mid-Aug through Sep except possibly Labor Day weekend time, and often much of the summer season other than about 10 days surrounding July 4.

I was wondering the same thing!

So instead of creating a new thread i'll just ask on this one. :)

Is early November a busy time for DVC? I know it's relatively slow time for the parks, i've been before in early November & the WDW parks have never been overally busy & waiting times for rides are nowhere near an hour. It's very maneagable. My party are planning a trip to WDW maybe early November 2012 & we'll be renting DVC points - so that means we can reserve 11 months out (i think).
