If the BCV (studio) is not availble for the time we are looking at we are now considering renting points for a different DVC resort. I realize that there is nothing close to SAB but what is the next best pool? Especially the waterslides?

My DS (11) loves waterslides and swims like a fish so a really good pool is a big part of our resort choice.

We are also considering AKL if a DVC doesn't work out.

Thank you for any info!

Boardwalk would be next...i think the OKW, WL and SSR pools are similar size..

No, no, no. Not Luna Park. That is one scary pool!!!!! :scared1:

OKW has a nice pool, now with a sandcastle slide. VWL has a great pool, not so big, but a nice rock slide. Plus the hot tub with the view of the geyser.

Can you explain the "scarry" aspect of the BWV pool? Is it really busy or what? I have never seen the BW pool but I love the location.

We have stayed at WL (loved every second of it) inner courtyard bear face room :cool1:

Is the waterslide at BW anything like it? Thanks for all the help we are trying to make up our mind what to do.

It's the clown, the clown. Think Stephen King's IT.

I have never seen the BW pool but I love the location.
Here's a pic of what some consider the scary clown slide : http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/bwi7.jpg and http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/bwi6.jpg
Here's the OKW pool area : http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/okw65.jpg and http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/okwpool1.jpg
I'd think OKW & BWV are tied for the next best pool. Both have cool slides and attractive pool area. The WL has a beautiful pool, but the slide is smaller and better geared for smaller kids. I think your 11 ds will get more of a thrill ride from the OKW or BWV slides.

Another vote for BWV. My 2 of my kids choose this over BCV. If you haven't seen the pictures yet, the slide is like a roller coaster. I've tried it out myself, and it is pretty fun. From the pictures, it looks like SSR's slide looks fun too.

You all are absolutely fabulous! Thank you so much for all your replies. While we love WL we would like to try something else this time and I liked the looks of all of those pictures! The BWV slide look really cool, much bigger than WL slide.

This would also put us in the Epcot resort area which is where we want to stay this time.

One other question, does the pool area at BW get crowded? What about OKW? We are going mid July so we will use it quite a bit during our trip.

Thank you for all your help!

The BWV pool gets crowded to the extent where you can't get a place to sit. The longest I have ever seen a wait for the slide is about 1/2 way down the steps. There is plenty of room in the pool though.

I think for an 11YO, the next best pool is BWV. My grandkids love it. The slide is nice and long, but not as fast as BCV, which is why it is MY personal favorite. VWL slide is quite a big shorter. We haven't been to SSR or the new OKW pools and slides yet, so can't offer info on those.

BWV pool is next best pool IMHP The comunity building is also there for the kids activitys ----and by the way the pool is not scary at all it's alot of fun :cool1:

Does the BWV or the OKW resorts have hot tubs? We were disappointed to find that the Poly does not have one. We loved the ones at WL.

Thanks everyone for the input.

are the slides at BWV age appropriate for a 4,6,8 year old? How deep is the water at the bottom of the slide and what ages are posted?

Yes! That's why I prefer the BWV over BCV slide. The BCV slide seems to be geared to a little older children. The water is deeper when coming off the slide. The BWV slide is a little slower and the water isn't as deep at the landing. If you're younger ones aren't that great at swimming yet, you can sign out life jackets at the Community Hall and they can use them on the slide. That's what my daughter did who was 5 at the time. I think the water is about 3 - 3 1/2 ft and I don't remember if ages were posted. No problem with them going down it, even without an adult. There is a lifeguard that sits at the top of the slide.

Yes the BWV has one by the main pool and aother by the comunity building ,we like to use this one in the evening bring a bottle of wine and kick back :smooth:

Valera,
Yes, OKW has a hot tub, sauna, kiddie pool and a playground with sand near the main pool area.
