Has anybody used the above sponsor, "The Timeshare Store", to purchase add-on's, or just new DVC property? What kind of "hassel" is it, if any? Any and all info about the company, good or bad, hidden fees I should know about, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

You are going to get a bunch of replies, all saying that there was no problem.

I have been on this board a very long time, just about since the begining and I have never seen a bad word posted about them. The worst we have ever heard of is sellers backing out or not having the points they say they do, and these negatives have been rare.

I purchased a resale several years ago from the Timeshare Store and you can deal confidentially with them. All their staff are very professional and you will not be disappointed. Good luck!

We just purchased a resale (closed last week) from The Timeshare Store and they were very professional. We would use them again.

We used Pat at the Timeshare Store to purchase an OKW contract. Very professional. Highly recommended.

I am in the process of purchasing an add-on through The Timeshare Store. I am dealing with Pat.

So far, it has been a breeze. I called on 8/18 to inquire about a 100 pt add-on at OKW. Pat and I discussed the best offer to make on my behalf and she called the seller and they agreed with the offer. Pat faxed me the contract information that day. I signed it, took it home for my husband to sign and faxed it back to her. I mailed in an escrow check by Fedex overnight. They received it on 8/21. As of Friday, 8/22 our information has been sent to Disney for approval. I understand that this can take some time to complete. I'm sure Disney has many offers to consider.

Be sure, when you call, to know what you want your offer to be for points, and how much of the current year dues you are willing to pay. They will let you know what your closing costs will be, based upon your points purchased. My contract clearly shows the amount of the purchase, the cost of the maintenance fees that will be due and the amount of closing costs. You do have to pay by cashiers check since you are dealing with an individual and not a corporate entity.

Now I am just waiting to see what Disney has to say. As I said, up till now, it has been really easy.

Thank's for eveyones replies. I have another couple of questions now. How long of a time period does Disney usually take to apporve or disapprove the resale? Are many turned down, and do you then counter offer? Once again, thank you for all for your replies.

Disney doesn't actually approve or disapprove the resale. They either exercise their right of first refusal or they don't.

They see the terms of the contract. And they can step in and buy the contract with those terms, or they can let it go through. There is no opportunity to re-bid.

My resale went through very quickly...about 13 days I think. Others have reported 3- 4 weeks for the Disney review.

What is an estimate of the closing costs involved? Also I noticed that Wilderness Lodge does not offer maid service for DVC members. Do any of the other properties offer maid service? (I really don't want to make the beds on vacation:teeth: )

Hello everyone --

I've been on DIS for a while, mainly hanging out at the Disney Parks& Attractions, Restaurants, and Tips area of the board. Now I've ventured on over to here.....To start last year we did a tour of Disney's Boardwalk and were VERY close to signing on the dotted line to become DVC members. We're going back again in September, and I would like to do another DVC tour again to find out more. Now my first question is, what are the advantages and disadvantages by buying directly through Disney (ie., while on site, etc), compared to purchasing it through resale (ie., Timeshare store, etc). If I'm not mistaken don't all the properties revert back to Disney ownership in 2042 (something like that?). Which brings up my second question. Doesn't it revert back to Disney then, and what happens to the money you've invested?

--Thanks in advance for all your responses.
