Does DVC usually price resales competitively or do they generally sell them at a higher rate than what's available through other brokers?

DVC really doesn't sell "resales". If they get points back from foreclosures or right of first refusal, they sell them as new.

Disney does have some type of a partnership with Fidelity to sell Disney's resale contracts.

Disney won't sell you a "resale" directly. What they will sell you are points at currently offered resorts and at resorts that are "sold out" at WAY higher prices than what you can buy on the "resale" market....those points not purchased via disney direct are subject to use restrictionss...but if you plan to use them at dvc resorts you'd have to be crazy to buy them from disney direct (IMHO ).

We want to buy at a resort that is "sold out" & Dh said we should call our guide. I pretty much figured buying direct from DVC would be much more expensive though.

We really only plan to use points at Disney so the restrictions they put into place this past Spring won't really affect us.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

Disney's direct prices will be substantially higher than resale.

If you are buying SSR, OKW, HHI, or VB, direct prices will be roughly double (or more) what you'd pay resale.

We just put an offer in on a resale for an add on and so far the process has been very easy.

The cons with resale:

The time the process takes, roughly 45 - 60 days compared to Disney's relatively immediate possession of points.

If Disney exercises ROFR, then you need to start the process over again.

It could take some time to find the contract with the points, use year and location you're looking for.

Thanks for the info! Glad to know the process has been easy for youso far.

I think what we've decided to do rather than buy a small add-on is to buy a larger contract at a resort we love & want to stay at as much as possible in the future and then sell our existing contract.
