Never renting DVC points before, so I know NOTHING about it. I need your help in some questions I have.

My wife and I are thinking about a 10th wedding anniversary trip to WDW. I have called and got some prices from Disney. For our dates of **/** - **/**, they are wanting somewhere around $1200 for the four nights with taxes. I saw somewhere on a website that points for (resort) is 10 points and 16 points per night for Sun-Thur and Fri-Sat respectively. That would be 52 points total f or our four nights. I have seen some posts on the rent/trade board for points at $10/point. So is it true to say we could stay at (resort) for $552 for the four nights plus taxes? Also, could we do the dining plan by doing this? How do the tickets work? Would we have to buy them seperately?

Thanks in advanced for you responses and help!

Edited to remove specific dates and resort info. Edits appear in Brown. - Chuck S

Almost forgot if needed, those points per night are for a studio.

Sounds like you have the general understanding. Rental prices range from $10-12 per point generally although you might see some for a bit lower and some for a bit higher.

On the Rent/Trade Board here in the DVC boards, there is a sticky with lots of info on renting and some other FAQ info linked in there as well.

PS - when you rent, there are normally no taxes unless the owner is savvy or interested enough in doing that. Park tickets are purchased separately. The member can add the DDP if you want it.

Sometimes there are even better deals if you can wait, be flexible and 30 days out, find a "Reservation for Rent". These are reservations that have already been made at a specific resort for specific dates. They can only be posted 30 days in advance. If you are willing to take the reservation "as is", you can sometimes get an unbelievable price. Good luck and Happy Anniversary! :goodvibes

But you are going to have to pay it all at once to get that reservation. And if you wait too long to try to get one of these less than 30 days out reservations, you may be totally out of luck.
